Musical influences would be: Buddy Holly, The Beatles, John Lennon, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon as a solo artist. Songs with a 50’s 60’s vibe and good melodies. Most of these influences probably all came from my Dads record collection when I was a kid. All cool Dads have good music taste, Think about it......
Hello, I'm Pete. A singer/songwriter from a town called Coatbridge, just outside of Glasgow, Scotland. I recently moved to L.A. and although I like it here in the U.S. I plan to travel everywhere and pretty much anywhere to promote my music with and without a band. Looking forward to the future!
BIOG: Pete MacLeod is a Scottish singer/songwriter who has a musical diversity that no-one could question. Appearances at venues such as Glasgow’s King Tuts (SOLD OUT THREE TIMES), Glasgow’s ABC (HEADLINE SHOW, 1300
CAPACITY VENUE) Glasgow’s Carling Academy, Garage, QMU (Support),
London’s Mean Fiddler and Garage (Support), Manchester’s Academy’s 1 2 and 3 (Support) and Dublin’s Olympia (Support), Scotland’s biggest annual music festival T In The Park, L.A.’s Viper Room, The Echo and Hotel Cafe amongst many other venues show how hard working Pete is to build on his fan base.
In 2004 Pete signed an Indie label agreement with the label releasing a
single through various HMV and Virgin stores across Scotland and briefly
entered the British charts. After completing all of the above and working on the songs for sometime Pete felt it was time to record an album.
Pete completed a UK tour supporting OCEAN COLOUR SCENE (SOLO ACOUSTIC) in 2007. Recently legendary Indie DJ Rodney Bingenheimer has praised Pete's songs by playing them on his show at KROQ five weeks in a row! "So What Is The News" and "Modern Soul".
One of Pete's songs "Panic" has caught the attention of music visionary Alan Mcgee saying: "Pete is a great songwriter I have met over here in LA. He's in my top friends and his song Panic which is an amazing tune is my profile song. Download Panic it costs nothing and is a tune worth having on your ipod...McGee"
2008 was a GREAT year for Pete and Q magazine even got in contact with him to feature one of his songs in the top 50 downloads of the month. The song was actually recorded in a cupboard at Pete's apartment in L.A. This made it even sweeter for Pete considering what most artists probably spent on there recordings in the same top 50! The year ended on a high with Pete touring the UK on an acoustic tour with Bonehead (Oasis) joining him on stage performing on all of Pete's songs for the whole tour! It's fair to say that this is the route Pete will be taking for now. The acoustic one that is. It's easier and most would probably agree the most effective musically also. 2009 is almost over and Pete has spent most of the year writing songs rather than performing live. At this moment in time he is recording and will be putting some of the songs he is working on up here on myspace for everyone to hear before they get mastered but for those of you who want to hear his work of the past you can listen/buy his Debut Album and acoustic EP which is now available on itunes and other digital stores WORLDWIDE.
