Man oh man, the 106 Basement Tapes! That takes me back! Those were the days when the public demand controlled the airwaves and the music was real and great, as opposed to the contrived American Idol drek they serve up now. Trust me, nobody knows any better than I do, I've worked with literally thousands of them a year out here in Hollywood for the last thirteen years. You wouldn't believe it, I've seen bands of guys around the age of twenty get handed endorsement deals from a dozen companies at once, get handed endless checks, have power people intorduse them to five or six VERY enthusiastic and astounding looking porn chicks to play with, and a guaranteed deal - ALL AT THE SAME SHOWCASE - and they turn their nose up at it like it's nothing! And they can't even play or sing! It's enough to make you sick.
About three to five percent could ever have hoped to get a gig with one of central Illinois' regional bands if they'd lived back in those times.
