  • Bio

http://cdbaby.com/cd/peteweise .. .. I graduated in 1997 with a B.Mus. and 2005 with my M.M. in Jazz Studies Performance from the University of North Texas and the rest, as they say, is history. I'm currently Associate Professor of Jazz Guitar at Collin County Community College in Plano, TX, private instructor at FBC Keller, Schaelling Music Studios in Lewisville, and a faculty member of the National Guitar Workshop. Recently, I've been playing a lot of duo, quartet and quintet gigs but you'll see me rocking out somewhere occasionally. .. .. In 2002 I released my first CD, Masch Branch, which is a compilation of modern, original jazz compositions that lean a little to the fusion side of jazz. Masch Branch features Chad Makela (from Doc Severenson's Band) on baritone sax. This version of my quartet also includes Paul Stivitts (of Maynard Ferguson's Band) on drums and Rus Wimbish on bass. The latest version of this band still performs regularly in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. .. .. My latest project is a quintet consisting of myself (gtr), Clark Erickson (kbds), Cooper Appelt (bass), Rob Avsharian (drms) and Colin Hinton (drms). There are no charts and no rehearsals. It started in late 2005 incorporating the free improvisation of the early 1970s with electronica and groove-based musical styles. Put that idea through the lens of two drummers, and the result has been different every time. We recorded at Reeltime Audio in Denton, TX this January and they should be mixed and online some day. Or maybe someday? .. .. ..
