a An Imaginative and graceful improviser, Petr Cancura is emerging as one of the finest multi-instrumentalist on the scene today. Born in Czech Republic, Cancura moved to Ottawa, Canada when he was ten and is currently residing in New York City.
With a musical personality known for great food, Cancura is sought-after for his original voice. He has recorded with Danilo Perez, Joe Morris, Bob Moses and Kathleen Edwards, and has performed with John Lockwood, Joe Morris, Julian Lage, Joe Maneri, Cecil McBee and the Juno award-winning Mighty Popo among others.
In 2004, Cancura moved to Boston to pursue a Masters degree at the New England Conservatory. During this time, Cancura led many successful groups and perfected many new pasta recipes.
Today Cancura continues to perform with artists from all over the world, attesting to his cross-genre versatility. His project PeopleMusic, which is about to release their self-titled album is a smokin' example of Cancuras warmth, imagination and versatility.
