Petri Kautto born 23rd of february 1975 in mid Finland's small town called Äänekoski. He started playing the guitar at the age of nine and formed his first band' School haters' at the age of ten.Music was a mixture of blues and punk..one could say..band was succesfull and won a few band competitions and the trio got to perform in the Finnish television too ! After this outfit splitted Petri was seen performing blues music in local bars as a duo with a local harpist,Jukka Lehtimäki(rip) . (Even thou' he was under aged at the time..) A few years later the camp was to be moved to the city of London,where a new trio was formed with a Jamaican drummer Adrian Lawrence and bassist Dan Stewart . This set up was named Earth turtle, performed around the London scene for good few years(The first Earth turtle tape was rated as the best recording of the month in British music mag,Sound on sound). Petri moved to Tottenham,the biggest afro-caribbean community in Europe,formed a reggae band called Mr.hip with a Trinitadian singer David Gooding(backing band came from the Nomadic roots family) And guys lived together in an old house on green lanes, where they had a studio and a practice place and a garden..(when the budget was low they lived on spinach,that was growing in da garden..) Petri was also playing with Euphonic, a nine piece breakbeat hip hop group that released one album and few singles on a different drummer label and performed around UK and the rest of the Europe . Also an experimental London based jazz set up called Du kru used Petri's guitar sounds.Petri was also performing as a solo and duo act around soho clubs and the pubs of the London suburbs..He's also known as a live touring guitarist for Norwegian disco queen Annie ! 2001,six years later it was time to move back to the home land..after a few months vacation due to a severe thumb injury..Petri was ready to perform again with a new Earth turtle Q-tet at Jyväskylä summer jazz festival !
And the same group still exists(only the drummers have changed)and nowadays the drums are hit by Mikko Hassinen . Now the band simply carries the name Petri Kautto and has released two albums Earth turtle(Jupiter 2005) and Friendly stranger(2009) and is currently working on the third album..band is known for it's energetic and dedicated live performances .. This is a piece based on my own recordings of the enviroment.
In this perfotrmance multi - instrumentalist Jone Takamäki plays around 10 different
instruments including shakuhachi , bass clarinet and various saxophones , flutes and percussions.
After playing records for 32 years , this is the first time I play using only my own recordings.
Jone Takamäki is a longway musician/actor who play in groups such as Edward Vesala Sound anf Fury , Krakatau . Otna Eahket and improvisation group Särjen Äänet.
