‘...muscular drums, pounding bass and lightening
guitar totally in sync. The rhythm section propels
every song into the body, demanding movement.
There's an element of grunge but the sound is
organic and rumbling rather than spiky. A band
packed tight.’ www.moles.co.uk
Conceived in a small South West town in early
2006, Petrol showcase the intimate and powerful
sound created by vocalist and guitarist Chris Turtell.
Combining raw and infectious hooks with
compelling melodies, the three piece provide a
new breed of intelligent and compelling rock that
needs to be heard.
Citing influences including Pixies, Girls Against Boys, Killing Joke and Shellac, Petrol merge their
rugged grunge-edged songs with carefully
constructed lyrics. Their place in the modern world
is defined by the ethos behind the music; edgy pop
songs with a stripped back sound and vocals written
with a sense of urgency.
Escapism for those bored with the hollowness of
today’s music scene, the band will be bringing their
live shows to audiences across the UK in 2008.
Feel free to be dragged along to clap your hands
or just shout your fucking head off.

Hey guys, it was a good gig last night! sorry we didnt get to talk to you much, but it was a bit mad for us, it was our first gig at the Black Cat. Geneva is a cracking track!
Deffo re dinner. We're pretty hectic here as normal, and I've taken on more work, just for a laugh, but give us a date (Sat or Sun is best, evenings) and we'll hook up. I saw my drumkit the other day: I managed to get it covered in sheep blood (don't ask). There were UNBROKEN sticks in the bag!!
We played your track "Called To Say You're Right" on Bristol Uncovered this Saturday morning on BBC Radio Bristol. You can still hear it anytime this week using the on line "Listen Again" feature on www.bbc.co.uk/bristol and follow the "local music" links till you find a "Listen Again" icon to click on.

Thanks for a fabulous set at The fleece last night - Petrol, Cohaagen and MelonFarmer - what a combination! Really strong songs, jaw-dropping performances and great crowd participation.
Thanks again - I reckon that was our best night so far. How I am ever going to top that I do not know!
Asako is well. We have two and a half months to go. Yipes.
In November we are being flown out to Sweden for four dates. They are paying for our flights food and hotels. WTF? We are not used to this, it must be some kind of 'Eli Roth Hostel' deal.
London is a funny place. I was going to buy this fuck off big Orange Rockerverb 100 but then realised I could not move it about to get it to gigs. I thought I would stick with my Marshall combo but even that is too loud and heavy so I found myself just borrowing amps from what ever other act was playing. Now I have an Orange Crush 30w tranny because I can actualy carry it and it's not too loud for all the pussy PAs they have here. It feels like a downgrade. How strange.
Also, all London promoters aren't promoters. Promoters promote, not just ask you to bring 20 friends. I'm sick of people booking us then two week before hand hitting us with shitto contract. I thought I could try as many promoters as I could to find the nice ones but I have only found about two after a year of playing.
first things first ..... i want a petrol t-shirt! wales is cool thanks. the proclaimers are a lovely bunch! only downside is having to share an apartment with steve! t xx
