   PetSounds [Telfords Warehouse]'s Blurbs
About me:

Pet Sounds is the new name for Friday nights at Telfords Warehouse in Chester.

I am your host, Adam Walton.

I have been DJ'ing and promoting at Telfords since 1997.

In that time I have brought Coldplay, the Automatic, the Pipettes, Mclusky, Akira the Don, bravecaptain, Radio Luxembourg, 60ft Dolls, Soft-Hearted Scientists and many, many more up to Chester to offer our customers the chance to see some of the most exciting new bands in the UK.

Pet Sounds is an attempt to focus the unique factors that Friday nights in Telfords have offered over the years into something identifiable.

This is our manifesto:

  • 1) The finest live music regardless of genre.
  • 2) An eclectic mix of music without boundaries.
  • 3) Every tune will be a great tune.
  • 4) Open minds will have a great time.
  • 5) Something different every week.
  • 6) If nobody is dancing, but we're playing an AMAZING song, that's okay! Great Music is our leader!

PLEASE NOTE I operate a 'no requests' music policy on the night. It's nigh-on-impossible for me to listen to people's requests when I'm in the middle of a DJ-set. There is only one of me and the next tune always needs finding and cueing up. PLEASE DON'T TAKE OFFENCE! If you have a request, and it's a good one, leave it as a comment here before 2pm on the Friday afternoon and I will see what I can do for you!

And if you are going to request something make it more interesting than the Stone Roses, the Arctic Monkeys or bloody Razorlight!

My 'day' job is as presenter of BBC Radio Wales' new music show, The Musical Mystery Tour. That show has been running in one shape or another since October 1993. It's an excellent show because Wales is full of excellent and innovative musicians. Many of the best have played our stage before going on to very much bigger and better things.

Please feel free to get in touch and let me know your thoughts, requests, criticisms, suggestions for bands to play etc.

    CD's
  • Who I'd like to meet:
People who have a broad-minded passion for music in all its shapes, sizes and forms. We will give *you* a very good time indeed!

People who want to hear something new or different.

People who aren't expecting wall-to-wall 'indie' or 'dance' music. Pet Sounds *HATES* pigeonholes with a *VEHEMENCE* that sane people with a proper life would find frightening.

People who understand that a DJ isn't just a jukebox to be bawled at but someone [in this instance] who wants to take them on an interesting and original journey.

Akira the Don -- Thieving @ Telfords Warehouse, Chester, Friday 20th June 2008

The incredible Akira the Don will blow minds and burn soles at Telfords Warehouse in Chester, *THIS* Friday night.

Akira is currently working on his second album with famed Yankee producer Stephen Hague (Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Robbie Williams), and spent the past year writing songs, making mixtapes, cartoons, and strange celebrity fans (Alex James, Andy Bell, Konnie Huq) incurring the wrath of Kim Deal, and producing songs for people, including a top 40 hit for Lethal Bizzle with the Clash sampling Police On My Back. And some remixes. Gonzales liked his Working Together remix so much he asked Akira to come and perform it with him at the ICA. His music has been featured in movies both big (My Super Ex Girlfriend) and small (Finding Diego) and on TV shows both British (Hollyoaks) and American (CSI), but his proudest achievement is probably still supporting Jim Bob from Carter USM at the Islington Academy.

His second album will be out in the Autumn.

    --

So, join us for a night of eclecticity and not-to-be-missed entertainment at Telfords Warehouse, Chester on Friday 20th June 2008 from 8pm - 2am. *FREE* before 9pm & £4 afterwards.

See my Pet Sounds page for details of the kind of great tunes that I will be playing before & after Akira.
