Damn The Torpedoes is a group of seasoned musicians who pay tribute to the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Formed in October of 2007 with Tom Petty lookalike/soundalike Rich Kubicz, the band features bassist Saul Abrams, drummer Mark Haughton, keyboardist Jeff Klein and the lead guitar of John Brite.
Damn The Torpedoes works very hard to sound as close as humanly possible to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' recorded material. The fact that Rich looks like TP is simply an uncanny coincidence. Telecasters, Rickenbackers and Strats simply add to the experience.
Rich chose Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as a band to emulate because of the incredible catalog of great music. Even the crossover music during "Non Petty" sets has the potential to be extensive.
DTT will also be working on an off shoot band covering obscure Classic Rock and naming themselves simply The Torpedoes. Rich will step aside more often and allow the other guys in the band to show off some of their vocal chops.
