some Anglo-Irish quasi-folk influences, tape hiss warblings, slight Crazy Horse-isms, some Garth Hudson attempts, some Roger McGuinn-izations, near-approximation of some Dave Schramm-ittude
Pat Gubler, a.k.a P.G. Six came on the scene in 1994, as a member of Memphis
Luxure, a noise/rock band from Port Chester, NY. That band morphed into Tower
Recordings, a musically omnivorous ensemble that released several albums on the
Siltbreeze and Communion labels over the past decade. Pat’s first solo album,
“Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites” (Amish 014) saw the light of day in 2001,
followed by “The Well of Memory” (Amish 019) in 2004. “Music From the Sherman Box Series” (AMI 024), a collection of instrumentals arrived in Fall 2006. His music fuses an unlikely range of influences including 60s British folk, country rock, & experimental music.
P.G. Six has shared the stage with a variety of performers including:
Ghost, Slint, Yo la tengo, Michael Hurley, & The Incredible String Band.
His 4th album, Slightly Sorry was released Feb 2007 on Drag City.
Hi folks. The bombardment begins! We have five shows this month, the first of which is mighty exciting!
Supporting his new Asthmatic Kitty LP ’In The Vines’ Raymond Raposa stops by for one of only six UK shows. His wonderful songwriting is awash with trippy electronics and lazy country licks. Twisted country Grandaddy possibly? I dunno, bloody good though! Assisting on the album are a wealth of talented musicians including members of the wonderful Phosphorescent, Jana Hunter and Sufjan Stevens.
Supports are great too.
York ain't so far away! 10 minutes from the station.

HUMAN BELL (THRILL JOCKEY) : Nathan Bell (ex-Lungfish) and Dave Heumann (Arbouretum, Cass McCombs, Bonnie "Prince" Billy) dispense sun-baked, primitive blues instrumentals.
C JOYNES (BO'WEAVIL) : English heavy, thumb-lead finger-picker salutes dustbowl country, ragtime ragas and the Takoma school.
FUZZY LIGHTS: Cambridge trio combine ethereal drone, brushed folk and quantised cacophony.
