Hi, the name's Mikey & basically I'm putting a book together called "Phantoms - The Rise Of Deathrock From The LA Punk Scene".
There are a number of very good books already available on LA punk, but nothing of great note on Deathrock itself. Nor on the connections & transition between the two scenes. I'm looking to take it one stage further using interviews with the key figures involved (including those lesser known contributors that get no recognition), focusing roughly between 1979 to 1984.
I realise that not all the bands I'm featuring strictly fall into a "Deathrock" label & it is not my intention to label them as such. I'm just looking to get an accurate story from as many people as possible that were "there" at the time when what would later be called "Deathrock" was in it's infancy.
Myself, I discovered many of the bands through an introduction to the excellent "Hell Comes To Your House" compilation in the mid '80s & am very much still a fan of both scenes.
