Born in Chicago, Illinois to parents of Puerto Rican and Peruvian heritage, Ramsees Mechan was exposed to music at an early age. As a child he watched his father playing piano with local bands in and around Chicago. They played traditional salsa and merengue music. He was also influenced by his father's love for classical, jazz, rock, and other American pop music, particularly the Motown sound. It wasn't long before Ramsees began to develop his own skills as a piano and guitar player. However, just playing the music was not enough. The musicians in his father's band sparked his interest, not only in playing, but in composing the music as well. This is how he discovered his calling, he knew he wanted to set this as his life's course. The beginning of his music career journey began with a move to Orlando, FL to attend Full Sail University. Majoring in Audio Engineering (he always drew interest on the previous experience of seeing the recording session's of his father's band on reel-to-reel tape machines). Now complete with a college degree and technical knowledge of studio recording, he could combine his natural songwriting talent with the modern production techniques he now possessed. It was also in college that he began producing songs with engineer Nick Valentin (Shakira,Jennifer Hudson) for numerous local artists. He quickly made a name for himself and was sort after by many Artist in the Orlando area. Next, he found himself working with other artist from Miami to New York, then branching out over seas in the UK and East Africa. "Working with such a diverse group of artist, especially the talent over-seas, opened me up and gave me a chance to really push myself musically." said Ramsees.
Around that time he had crossed paths with industry heavy weight music executive Steve Corbin (Motown, WEA, Sony, MCA) who later introduced him to songwriter/engineer Scott Andrews (Babyface,Joe,Allure,The Temptations), both of whom have become mentors to him. Ramsees would find himself fortunate again to be introduced to legendary engineer and producer Bruce Swedien a.k.a. "The Godfather of Recording" (Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, J-Lo,Duke Ellenington). Bruce has not only been a positive influence and mentor but Ramsees serves as his assistant engineer and is currently managing of his personal program "In The Studio With Bruce Swedien." Ramsees says, "what more can I say... I'm truly humbled and honored to be fortunate to work with such great talents and industry leaders. They help guide me in my endeavors and provide great career advice.
Ramsees developed his own company Pharaoh Music LLC. and is working on many artist development and music production projects. Ray Martinez of SpotLight Management/Emerging Artist USA has also played a role in providing opportunities to place his music and work with new artist and songwriters. Currently Ramsees is working with up and coming star/talent Tiffany Martinez and one of her song writers Andrea Martin. Ramsees stated, "Ray and SpotLight Management are great!! they have been an inspiration... with they’re confidence, drive and passion they truly bring the best out of me... as far as Tiffany, what an amazing talent!!! In my opinion the industry is in need of more artist and talent like her. Engineering for Andrea is a great experience. She is a super charged, talented songwriter and brings enough energy to power the best performance from all involved”.
Ramsees shares, "Making a statement through music is a very hard and powerful medium, and it should be done with the upmost respect and patience! Sometimes I feel that producers, songwriters, and artists lose sight of that. I believe making music is about trying to make or be a part of something that is timeless... to take the music and make it the best statement it can be, both musically and sonically."
