What better way for a fledgling band to kick-start their career than via a personal invitation by Nina Hagen to perform at her Charity for Peace concert? Phases Of Life – comprising Ingo Schulz (production, synths), Philipp von Rothkirch (keyboards) and Kiko King (poet, painter, vocals, writer) – grasped such an opportunity shortly after they met two years ago in Berlin, Germany.
The three members relocated to this cosmopolitan melting-pot and began to combine their own phases of life with musical backgrounds in hip-hop, neo-soul, electro-funk and pop.
Their anti-war song, “Bombs Away”, that also drew Nina Hagens attention, proved a modest hit, reaching the finals of Austrian radio's FM4 Protest Song Contest in 2007. The same year POL gained national attention by breaking the top ten of the Jägermeister Rock-League video competition with "Respect Life".
Surrendering to the truth, spirituality and freedom - each song is crafted as a phase of life transcends yet another plain towards consciousness.
2009 has been a busy year thus far for Phases Of Life (P.O.L). As predicted in song title, ....No more tears to cry...., their time is now. Forging ahead after completeing a highly praised and successful tour date with Coca-Cola, participating in well known festivals such as Rock Am Ring, Melt, Hurricane and Highfield. Prior to these recent outings, P.O.L has opened for renowned band names such as the Kooks and Blue King Brown (Australia) in Berlin..s Arena club. “Groove music” is the style this ecclectic group has been linked to, which was heard on their live radio interview on KISS FM this summer.

Was gäbe es für einen besseren Start in die Karriere für eine Newcomer Band, als eine persönliche Einladung von Nina Hagen um bei ihrem "Charity for Peace" Konzert aufzutreten?
Phases Of Life - bestehend aus Kiko King (Vocals/Lyrics), Ingo Schulz (Produktion/Synths), und Philipp von Rothkirch (Keyboards) - bekamen diese Gelegenheit, kurz nachdem sie die Band vor 2,5 Jahren in Berlin gründeten.
Die drei Bandmitglieder trafen sich in der Hauptstadt und begannen ihre eigenen Phasen des Lebens mit ihrem musikalischen Hintergrund aus Soul, Hip Hop und Electro-Funk zu verknüpfen. Zusammen gefasst: Groove Music!
Ihr Anti-Kriegs Song "Bombs Away", auf den auch Nina Hagen aufmerksam wurde, erreichte 2007 dann das Finale des "Protest Song Contests" des österreichischen Radiosenders FM4. Im selben Jahr erlangte POL erneut nationale Aufmerksamkeit, als ihr Song "Respect Life" im Finale der "Jägermeister Rock Liga Video Competition“ unter den letzten 10 Videos landete.
Wie in ihrem Titel "No More Tears To Cry" vorausgesagt, startete die Band 2009 nun richtig durch: Mit dem Titel "Loved You Too Late" nahmen die 3 Jungs an der „Coca-Cola Soundwave Bandcompetition“ teil und damit ging es auf die großen Festivals. Bei Rock Am Ring, Melt, Hurricane und Highfield bewiesen die Jungs ihr Potential für die großen Bühnen, die sie sich mit Bands wie Lady HAwke, Astroid Galaxy Tour, Bonaparte und Whitest Boy Alive teilten. In „Arena Treptow“ in Berlin hatte POL bereits als Vorband für "The Kooks" (England) vor 5.000 Leuten und "Blue King Brown" (Australien) gespielt.
"Groove Music" ist der Stil, den sie prägen wollen, so Sänger Kiko King beim Radio-Interview im Sommer auf dem Berliner Sender Kiss FM. "Es geht um Einheit - wir werden zum Publikum - das Publikum wird zu uns", beschreibt Kiko die Live-Energie der Band.
Eine 4 Track EP ist bereits bei Amazon und Itunes erhältlich - das Debut-Album ist kurz vor der Fertigstellung und soll im Frühjahr 2010 präsentiert werden.

2009 was an intensive and eventful year with marvelous encounters. We still have a lot of material to be edited and thoughts to be figured out. But first a documentary about the last contributions at Workshop Berlin and Karneval der Galerien as well as the new fashion products from Ken Panda.
Die Januarausgabe 2010 hat eine der formidabelsten Kapellen Berlins zu Gast: das Kapaikos Mandolinenorchester. Demente Punkpolka, 'Teerwalzer' [wie ihr gleichnamiges Album], Balkangalopp und alles, was dein Herz aufgehen läßt, deinen Appetit nach hochprozentigem weckt und dich unwiderstehlich auf die Tanzfläche zieht. Die sieben kaputten Kapaiken durften schon Cobra Killer auf einem ganzen Album begleiten und waren 2004 das letzte Mal im Lovelite. Wir freuen uns auf ein wildes Wiedersehen!
