Time travel to the planet of Golden Age Hip-Hop, heavily sprinkled with Chicago mineral.
Phashara (pronounced fah-shuh-rah) is what you get when you cross soul with hip-hop & emcee-ism with maturity. Melodic tunes, raw bangin beats and charismatic speaktivity are the ingredients that culminate to make his raw b-boy groove.
Phasharas initial exposure to Chicagos hip-hop scene came while partnered with rap group Vibe Percent (later known as Sac.Fly). Performances at NAACP, RAINBOW PUSH, PAN AMERICAN FEST at Soldiers Field, & a host of other local reputable hip-hop joints coupled with weekly appearances on WCRX's" the last crate" hip-hop show (93 to96) gained the group a nomination along side rubber room as best new rap group.
With musical influences ranging from Parliament Funkadelic and Prince to Boogie Down Productions & Rakim, Phashas most evident attribute is his ability to mix well thought out lyrical content & vocal delivery with the soul of R&Bs past & the thumping street dexterity of hip-hop.
The Storybook Adventure
Phashara’s mission this go round is to use the art of storytelling to project rich portrayals of life through the eyes of a west side Chicagoan. The soulful bangin beats provided by the likes of Heralded Beat Champions, namely Radius, Tall Black Guy, Noble Dru & Phashara himself, serves as the canvas and soundscape for Phashara to paint vivid tales of city living and lessons learned. Still the fun and excitement of hip-hop’s golden age are overtly present and seem to be the recurring them in “The Storybook”.
