Phatback is a Richmond, VA band that plays an eclectic mix of covers and original material. Stylistically, the band moves from hard rock, to blues and pop, with detours along the way encompassing reggae, alternative country, psychedelia and R&B. Phatbacks originals reflect these disparate influences, creating a sound that is completely contemporary, but firmly rooted in rock tradition. While Phatback was formed in 2005, its roots go back to the early 90's where earlier versions of the band played as Grape Delilah, Suburban Camouflage, Mercy and Thin Ice. Phatback plays original songs, danceable rock and diverse covers, by artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, Bush, Fuel, Joan Osborne, Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Concrete Blonde, Patti Smith and the Clash to name a few.
