I just had to send you a comment and tell you that the last strip, passing out while reading the paper, is the most excellent one I have seen in all the time I have kept an eye on PhD. Perfectly captures the college student in general with that one! Keep it up!

Why GOD never received his PhD

1. He had only one major publication.
2. It was in Hebrew.
3. It had no references.
4. It wasn't published in a peer-viewed journal.
5. Some even doubt he wrote it by himself.
6. It may be true that he created the world, but what has he done since then.
7. The scientific community has a hard time replicating his results.
8. He never applied to the ethics board for permission to use human subjects.
9. When one experiment went awry he tried to cover it by drowning his subjects.
10. When subjects didn't behave as predicted, he deleted them from the sample.
11. He rarely came to class, just told students to read the book.
12. Some say he had his son teach the class.
13. He expelled his first two students for learning.
14. Although there were only 10 requirements, most of his students failed his tests.
15. His office hours were infrequent and often held on limited access mountain tops.
16. No record of working with colleagues.
17. He never existed!

Stuck in the basement tonight, with one small window(but its dark out already!). I put this on my labmate's desk this evening so he will see it in the morning. Thanks for helping me get through my grad school experience!

In regards to today's comic: First well done, and so true. Second, my M.S. advisor (who shall remain nameless) worked as a post-doc for a very famous chemist/chemical engineer at Stanford (Michel Boudart). He said his lab was in the basement and this was done on purpose so that the grad students couldn't see that it was nice outside. I Think we should establish PETGS (People for the ethical treatment of grad students)

Jennifer might have given the idea...but that truely happened to me!!! I was on a conference trip to Tokyo with my Advisor (yeah, he takes me on international travel!)...and we went to Asakusa Temple...where I decided to to check my fortune (considering it holy!)...and I kid you not... my fortune literally said "you will never get what you want"... who writes such fortune!?!...in a temple!?!

Thanx for making me believe it is ok to procrastinate, otherwise I would probably have rotten in the lab already, lol

PS, The Thesis is one of the best comics strips I've ever read, especially after being unplugged myself if you know what I mean!

Again, thank you for the peace of mind... I felt the same: barking at a dry, old tree for 6 years. I really need to decide: Quit or Continue... Aarrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

You should put the songs up here ... "closer i am to fine" and "who will grade your work." I just found them in the archives, and they're awesome! I want to link them to my profile. (Yes, I am procrastinating.)
