“Between the Carolinas is a musical monograph of the midwest itself; a faded portrait from the interpersonal journeys of identity, love and loss.”

For years I toured and released albums with the rock band Knee Deep Shag. We played thousands of gigs all over the Midwest, the East Coast and won a handful of Detroit Music Awards. In late 2004 the band decided to stop performing live, which freed me up to do some touring and guitar playing for my old friend Rachael Yamagata. With Rachael I toured Europe as well as the States including extended tours with Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne, and also played some noteworthy festivals such as Glastonbury and Austin City Limits. Since then I have devoted most of my time to folk super-group the Corn Fed Girls. Our brilliant album "Cornstar" is out now on Hey Burner! Records.
In 2008 I released a solo disc of my own songs entitled "Between the Carolinas". It was co-produced by Jeff Moehle (Knee Deep Shag, Butterfat Trio) and mixed by Martin Klemm. Jeff played Drums and Bass on more than half the songs and there are appearances by Mike Fuerst and Ira Cohen of the Corn Fed Girls as well. Between the Carolinas is out now on Hey Burner! Records.
Most Recently I have been working on the follow-up to "Between the Carolinas" as well as the next Corn Fed Girls album.
Thank you Mr. Barry and Hello to you. I hope all is well in family and in song. Awesome news on 'Goodbye is Not the End' and congratulations. I look forward to seeing you live again and perhaps doing another show together. Cheers my Friend
Glad to hear that you are all missing me! (cause I miss you guys more than you know!) The job is going well. I like it a lot. I just wish I was still in the area. Are you going to come see us (RSP) at Bells on Saturday? Hopefully I'll see you there. Stay in touch
An absolute honor to have been able to share the stage with you and Ira the other night. You guys were awesome, and I've listened to your CD non-stop ever since! Thanks again, Scott
Hi Phil, CD Baby just provided me with your album. I love it! I miss guitar lessons back in K-zoo, but soon Old Towne School of Folk Music will be helping me take off where I left with you. Take Care, Kelly PS: Tell your Uncle Marion I say hi!
