"For The 96" is my small 'tribute' to the 96 victims of the Hillsborough Disaster, 15th April 1989. This is something SO important to me, and to ALL L.F.C fans and this song kind of just came to me last year having been to the annual memorial service at Anfield Each year, the line that currently says 'and now 18 years on' will be increased to '19, 20, 21 years on' because the song will be here forever, the feeling will be here forever, the 96 will be here forever, and even if Justice ever comes their/our way, they will still never be forgotten
FOR THE 96
As i look around this place, i still recall the day
our city seemed to pull together as one
And now 18 years on, we're still standing strong
united here, singing our old song
You know we'll never walk alone as long as we hold onto what we know
and all their souls will live forever more
And the 96 we lost, they'l never be forgot
and they'll never walk alone no more
And i don't believe that we, should feel ashamed to be
remembering this day every year
Because they deserve the best, and we'll give nothing less
and with pride we'll sing our songs and shed our tears
You know we'll never walk alone as long as we hold onto what we know
and all their souls will live forever more
And the 96 we lost, they'll never be forgot
and they'll never walk alone no more
No they'll never walk alone, and we'll never walk alone, none of us has to walk alone And the 96 we lost, they'll never be forgot And they'll never walk alone no more
So, used to do a fair bit of gigging around & about, but kind of came to the end of the road on that score I'm just happy to do the odd open mic night & odd gig now & again and of course any little private family/friend based gatherings haha But i suppose all good things must come to an end, and i enjoyed playing in the likes of The Cavern, Barfly etc and appreciate all the opportunities given to me by all involved If anyone feels the urge then feel free to ask em to play anytime, am open to offers lol

It’s been 20 years since the Hillsborough Disaster occurred on what many believe was the darkest day in the history of football. The Hillsborough Disaster could have happened to any club, but sadly it was Liverpool. When the Hillsborough Disaster happened on April 15, 1989, I remember watching it live on my telly with my father, and I was 15, watching it live with John Motson comentating the match after being presented by Des Lynam. It was complete chaos. It wasn’t until the morning after that I realized how horrific the incident had been when I was saw the images of the disaster on the front page of my local paper.
I've made a very special tribute on my page dedicated to all 96 brothers and sisters who lost their lives at Hillsborough and some videos to be watched too..I may have nicked some good pics of you friends from your page, but I've made it as my dedication to all victims..It's for everyone to watch and share the sad moments of the disaster..I would love to hear comments from you buddies and to all 96 friends..YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE, R.I.P...- Uncle TAM
Phil Daltrey has been played on the It's A Frog's Life Acoustic Podcast Show 80 - Podcasting by numbers - the Easter 2009 music special, with more music and less talk than normal. And all of the songs on this show are connected in some way with numbers or counting. ..
This podcast is dedicated to the memory of the 96 fans of Liverpool Football Club who lost their lives so tragically and needlessly in the Hillsborough disaster on 15th April 1989, to the families they left behind, and to those who continue to fight for justice. You'll never walk alone.
