Way back when, I met up with Hound Dog in the Village; he lived in Lenny Bruce's old flat in the Hotel Marlton on 8th St. I remember the day we broke his cat out of jail. (He couldn't pay his vet bill.) Jimmy the Cheese and Bed Bug Charlie from the Bent-Nose Crew broke into the animal hospital and took the cat at gunpoint. "This one Jim?" "No." "This one?" "No, that one there." We went back and jammed all night; Charlie Mumms on the drums, Mr. Pancake on Bass. That was it for me; I just like playing old blues and trying to make up my own songs. After a while, playing in the living room gets boring, so I'm trying to get out there & play in front of people. Appoggiatura. The beauty of the imperfect.
Hey! I'm in a band with another OPUS Member (Will Orzo) and we're out here in Chicago on tour. Its great to hear from you. I've never forgotten you growing your beard out long, coming to class in the wintertime and playing your guitar - a big influence on me for sure.
Phil, good show at the Black Cat last night w/ you, Buddy, Jodie and the gang. Was fun to hang for a bit! Lena and I loved that "Poodle song"! (Better keep him away from our Greyhound)!!! All th best, Bill/MG
