| About Phil Doyle |
|
Grew up playing music with friends in the City... I attended the University of Miami, played lead tenor in the Concert Jazz Band, went on the road with KC and the Sunshine Band for two years, and after moving back to Chicago in 2005 I am now finishing my undergrad at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana with Chip McNeill.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Professionally, I've recorded with Maria Schnieder (UM "Romances"-GRAMMY Nominated Album-Whit's band-released 2004), and played with Dave Leibman, Vince Mendoza, James Moody, Jim McNeely, and several others.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These new tracks from Dec 2007 are all freely improvised with no set parameter, other than possibly something to consider while playing...
"Pensive" is with an extremely gifted and inspiring drummer here in Chicago by the name of Jon Dietemeyer. It was recorded not too long ago at my buddy Brian Zaharias' studio. "www.bzartistry.com"
The remaining three were recorded in New York City with
two very good and musically close friends of mine, Landon Knoblock and Austin McMahon.
We have been playing together for several years since UM and our connection to each other as musicians has continued to develop and grow.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are each bits and pieces of a recording session the three of us did in New York City. Neither the hurricane, nor the blizzard, has prevented us from playing... (haha:whats it going to be next time?)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More from this group is on the way.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm looking forward to meeting and playing with more and more of the talented and inspiring players here in Chicago. The music in this city is growing fast.
