About me: The Linz Philharmonic Orchestra (Linzer Philharmonie) was founded in the year 2000. It first performed on April 18, 2000 at the OK - Center for contemporary Art in Linz. Probably, the political circumstances at this time in Austria were a reason for its great success.
“the linz philharmonic orchestra” comprises around 30 to 80 musicians, which differs from a regular orchestra by the fact that the musicians play their instruments with a purely diletantic or passionate intention. The range of proficiency therefore reach from a total lack of ability to excellent qualifications; one can find absolute beginners as well as absolute professionals amongst the musicians.a further difference exists in the variety of instruments, a very large amount of recorders, numerous melodicas and accordions, harmonicas, shellhorn, etc. appear beside the traditional instrumentation.
