I've been playing the guitar now for 15 years, I started writing songs almost straight away, mainly because I found it so hard to play any body else's songs. I taught myself how to play (after a couple of lessons from my sister, where we threatened to kill each other), I bought myself an AC/DC tablature book and attempted to learn the songs. It wasn't long before I formed a band with my best friend and proceeded to write songs with them, we (the Sick Puppets) got a few gigs in the local area and wowed the critics (okay maybe not!), after a couple of years I left and formed another band called Halfway House, I ended up singing in the band (not through choice primerily, only because no-one else wanted to). We played a mixture of original songs and covers including the majority of the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album. We recorded two albums and an EP of original material, some of which can now be heard at www.myspace.com/halfwayhouse1. As well as appearing at numerous venues in the local area we also managed to get through to the semi-final of the 'Echo Star Trail'. Unfortunately the band kind of drifted apart and we all went our seperate ways. I decided to continue on my own and currently perform my own material around the Bournemouth area and can often be seen at various open-mic nights (when my car is working!), I also gig in a duo called Dishevelled, singing acoustic covers, and have just joined another band Last Train to NEASDEN (it's a long story) with my good friend Martine learning some covers, writing some songs (in the words of the late great British Rail 'we're getting there') check out our myspace: www.myspace.com/lasttraintoneasdon
'Fate for Opportunity' is the title of my debut solo album, which received positive reviews from the local press (Wessex Muse Magazine, Bournemouth Echo etc.) I have also appeared on two radio stations in an attempt to promote my material (Echo FM & wessex FM). I have just completed an EP (containing 4 new original songs) called Politicians, Thieves & Poets, and hope to record a full album sometime this year.
My main musical influences are Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Beatles, Rage Against the Machine and numerous others which people may not suspect when first hearing my songs.
3 Reasons to Record at ITG I In a separate building, not a bedroom or part of a house. Okay, it's “in the garden” of a house, but it's a detached, purpose built studio, soundproofed from the outside to around 90db, acoustically treated inside with a separate live and control room. Remember, if the acoustics in the room are not right, no amount of equipment will ever fix it. T Tons of industry standard equipment, not home studio toys. For example the RME Fireface 800 is one of the top of range digital audio interfaces recording up to 192Khz ( not that you need it ) with almost no latency at all. That combined with Neumann/Rode vocal/instrument mics and things are looking good. G Good value for money. We are not the cheapest and we are proud of that fact. We charge a mid-range price that enables us to offer the kind of after session support needed. Ask any previous customer and they will tell you how much trouble w
