I'm interested in reading, love the movies, travel... but here's some stuff I bet you didn't know about me:
I would like to first thank you for visiting this site and supporting my work!
You may or may not be aware that I write under several names--so many that sometimes the aliases get crazy and confusing (smile.) So, bear with me while I take a moment to introduce my full writing portfolio to you, given that I write various genres under multiple pseudonyms using the names: L.A. Banks, Leslie Esdaile Banks, Leslie E. Banks, Leslie Banks and Leslie Esdaile, simultaneously with five major publishers: St. Martin's Press (NYC), Simon and Schuster (NYC), Kensington Publishing (NYC), BET/Arabesque (NYC), and Genesis Press (MS.). Parker Publishing was just added to the mix, too!
Müzik
Musically, I'm just as wild (all over the place)... I have laughed at the nasty lyrics of Pit Bull's "Culo" (MIAMI)
thinking of Carlos Rivera in his early days, to mellowing out with Luther. Recently one of my readers, LaShonda turned me on to Terrell Carter, and the song "Better Than" inspired a romance I'm working on now--I run that song into the ground. But I can just as easily go to Luda, ha ha ha, talks a LOT of trash, or need to get spiritual with India... or can do Celine Dion's "I Surrender" as quickly as I listen to Seal's "Kiss from Rose," then switch to Yolanda Adam's "Victory," or holla to Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, and then double back on Lil' Jon and the Ying Yang twins, hit Nelly, then "Lean" -- LOL. My CD collection is as strange as the books I read and my research stacks on the floor!
Filmler
Anything martial arts, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Sin City, Blade (episode one only--yeah, I'm a
purist), From Dusk Till Dawn, Alien, Aliens (my fav line being, "Game over, man!"), Predator, Alien vs Predator, Independence Day, Matrix, -- the list is long... action/adventure (down to Raiders of the Lost Arc, yep), James Bond movies, Spiderman, X-Men, Triple X, when I go to the movies, take me on a ride! Every now and then I can go totally cerebral... The King's Whore, with Timothy Dalton, Dangerous Liaisons, with diva "Close"... or foriegn films like, Chocolate, etc., I love stuff that takes my mind somewhere outside the box. Intrigue flicks also keep me riveted, Conspiracy Theory, and things of said nature.. Enemy of the State, All the President's Men, there are so many by category... hey, I'm a film major, and have seen so much stuff and appreciate it all for different reasons, from the cinematography to the dialogue or suspense... what can I say? BIG SMILE!
Televizyon
Sadly, I don't get to watch it as much because of my writing deadlines, and usually wind up on three channels = The History Channel, The Discovery Channel, The Nature Channel... for research. But I did manage to watch the first episode without fail of 24, and West Wing... to me, those were diametrically opposed--the lines in West Wing were AWESOME, so i'd watch that for intrigue and dialogue, whereas the tension and action in that first season of 24 was off the chain... so i'd study both shows while enjoying them immensely, for those elements. Then, of course, i got hooked on HBO's Sopranos, and just had to MAKE myself stop so i could go write, LOL!
Kitaplar
Hmmm, I have an eclectic taste and mix of reading... anything from Anthony Browder and Wayne Chandler's work (on ancient Kemet)--anything like that, The Metu Neteru, etc., I consume! Yet, I'll read a romance in a minute to clear my head... I loved Tina McElroy Ansa's "The Hand I Fan With," and anything by literary diva, Tananarive Due...
Kahramanları
Wow... those come from real life. My parents--loved them both, God rest their souls. But people like Mandela, Malcolm, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., Angela Davis, people who went to the wall for what they believed in and did not waver -- takes insurmountable courage... Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Joan of Arc, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman... the historical list is long... Nzinga... When you put your life, your family, ALL that means anything to you on the line for a cause larger than yourself, to me, that's heroic...
