Most importantly, I am the proud father of two awesome daughters.

In 2008, I joined Emmylou Harris' "Red Dirt Boys", one of the greatest honors of my life. We finished our US Tour this past summer, and have recently completed our European Tour this fall. I'll be working with Emmylou in a scaled-down version of the Red Dirts in 2009.

In response to artists and musicians who feel "stuck", as well as to the many people who want to discuss career options and paths, I have recently begun consulting/mentoring, and anyone who wishes to discuss this service can contact me through this site.

I write songs with some wonderful writers - Merrill Farnsworth, Cindy Morgan, Jimmie Lee Sloas, Kim Carnes, Wayne Kirkpatrick, The Warren Brothers, Matraca Berg, Lynn Nichols, and many others. I've had songs cut by Alison Krauss, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Bruce Hornsby, Point of Grace, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. In 2009, I received a Dove Award for the "Country Song of the Year" with my pal Cindy Morgan.
