| Music | I'm pretty open to a lot of styles and genres - good music is good music, regardless of style, but I have to admit having a real love for powerpop and great melodies... but I also like blues, "edgy" country, jazz, various alt-rock styles, and good old fashoned rock and roll. Some of my favorite bands and artists include The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Fountains Of Wayne, Weezer, The Cars, Matthew Sweet, Queen, Carole King, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Counting Crows, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Brian Wilson / The Beach Boys, Burt Bacharach, Jellyfish, Steve Earle, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Sergio Mendez and Brasil '66, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder (and most old Motown stuff), almost everything ever done on the Atlantic and Stax labels prior to 1975, The Eagles, Brian Setzer, The Police, Sheryl Crow... really too many to list here. If it's musical and catchy, and has great hooks, and inspired performances and lyrics that move me and make me FEEL something, then it "works" for me. | | Movies | Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, That Thing You Do, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, It's A Wonderful Life, all three Austin Powers films, The Usual Suspects, A Christmas Story, The Sands Of Iwo Jima... again, there's a ton of great movies, and I can't think of all my favorites at the moment, but I tend to lean towards comedy and action movies. | | Television | Mostly the news and The History Channel. | | Books | I love to read... everything from technical books about audio engineering to fiction, history - all sorts of things. | | Heroes | Tom Dowd, Sir George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Sir Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton. |
