I don't read enough and I don't practise the keyboard/piano enough. But those are two things I like doing that could make me sound like a sophisticated kinda guy.
Mostly I listen to music, and geek away online. I love chatting... I'm not big on games and stuff though. Or even forums. Just chatting!
I like travel, I like going to as many different places as possible and meeting all the people I can.
I don't really know what to say that could make you think, "WOW! This guy's really cool!" Sorry!
Music
I seem to like bands that sound like other bands. I love Marillion, who people say sound like Genesis. I adore Dishwalla who sound like any of the bands you hear week-after-week on Smallville or even back in the day: Dawson's Creek! I like Default, who sound scarily like Nickelback and Creed. I can't get enough of IAMX, and they sound like Muse. And don't even get me started on the bands that sound like Depeche Mode - but they're all ace!
Movies
"World cinema" is where it happens, apparently. France bang out some good films: Days Of Glory, Tell No One, the Taxi series, Three Colours (Red being my favourite), A Very Long Engagement, Le Dîner De Cons, Intimate Enemies, La Haine and of course Amélie. But there are so many more.
Thailand's good for action: Ong-Bak, Bang-Rajan, Chocolate, Tom-Yum-Goong, The Bodyguard, Som-Tum...
Other firm favourites from around the world include: The Lives Of Others, Battle Royale, Let The Right One In and Jade Warrior.
I love action films too. Relentless, old-fashioned, sexist, one-liner-ridden... Mainly the 80s, but the early 90s too... Classics such as Commando, Rocky 3 or 4, Action Jackson, Stone Cold, The Last Boy Scout and Cobra. The best action film of recent times was Shoot 'Em Up.
Television
Comedies mainly: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace & Man To Man With Dean Learner, Only Fools And Horses, Porridge, Sorry, Alan Partridge... and my two favourites: Sledge Hammer and Bottom.
I like a handful of other shows: The Dead Zone, The Invisible Man and Burn Notice.
Books
The Little Prince, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time. Preacher series.

So, how was the music thing? Shame you missed the BBQ - it was one of the best gatherings we've had. Weather was perfect, food was great and I got totally ginned up and spent the night on a playground looking at stars. Way out there! ;)

I'm glad there weren't too many poseurs there - though I'm starting to remember shouting "FUCK OFF!" at that emo puff when he came on stage like a rockstar haha!
