Production is a strange occupation sometimes your'e the hero, sometimes the Villain....Hours spent listening to the same piece of music over and over again, analysing its merits to the point of madness..Is it the drummer? Is it the mic....Perhaps its the eq!! or compression..Is it the song????..Not enough top end on the hi-hat...Whats on the menu??......the Reverbs too long..theres no groove in the chorus, tell em to call back..The studio sucks, the A&R man cant hear the hook, if only we had an accoustic gtr that sounded like a bass drum or vice versa......Was the first take the one?? Only one side of my headhone works***Can we get more out of the toms**the plugger wants to edit out the intro otherwise radio wont play it***It doesnt sound like that on my stereo..it'll be alright in the mix..It's Never ending but very addictive, very frustrating and it gets you everytime..
I started out in studios making the Tea (like 90% of the producers you read about; in the good old days of analogue, when home recording was a four track and everybody hated the sound of tape hiss - yes analogue was sometimes hated - infact, my tea wasn,t very good at all, and if legend is true; Flood was the master Tea merchant..Studios were, and are a boot camp....No, they're places of slave f**** labour, they're sleep deprevation tanks, places where daylight seldom visits, where pale looking things just stare at speakers..Where little bits of beautiful magic & mistakes happen...
.I still love music
....grrrr grumpy old bastard......

Influences
Well at the moment its Judge Judy, David attenborough and Larry David..not music related surprise, surprise
The first record I remember was "She loves you"...The first record I put on a turntable was Rolf Harris singing "2 little boys" you can get arrested for that now days....
My favourite pastime givin A&R men a 10 metres start before I dismantle them..Charity shops are definitely an influence, but I hate chuggers...I love Laurel and Hardy,Pete and Dud..Then theres Bill and Ben the flowerpot men...I have censored myself at the moment..
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."

Ok When I grow up I want to become a fisherman and sell T shirts of little baby Jesus..This is the story so far...
say nice things about nice people....Conspiracy theories are rubbish..Well theres one person that maybe knows different...
TQuote;-DENVER (Billboard) - Rock band Radiohead's decision to release its new album "In Rainbows" by itself -- online, without a record label's help and at any price the user chose -- rocked the industry last fall....
Well this is an OWN GOAL!!!!!...Served out by people that have had the joys of record company budgets- A good record label-.Its a shame for new bands they wont have that luxury...Granted record companies have had it coming "Catch 22" .The over-all effect is that music has been devalued...$$$$$
And I've had it with the Chef TV Culture in the UK..Its such a waste of Human resourses...I include them all...The Brits just watch it they dont cook it...They seldom eat it..
