The QUATRO SISTERS hail from Detroit, Michigan. Reared in a very musical family, their musical abilities were nurtured by their father Art Quatro, who enjoyed much musical success with his own band, a booking agency, and being house organist for the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons. Brother Michael was a well-know agent, musician, and concert and festival promoter of the era's legends such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Ted Nugent, Bob Seeger, etc. In 1964, 16-year-old Patti started THE PLEASURE SEEKERS, an all girl band, with friends Nan Ball (drums), and Diane Baker (keyboards). With a bass guitar lying around the house, Patti enlisted younger sister, Suzi Quatro to take on that instrument, and Marylou Ball (rhythm guitar) was added to round out the band.

The Pleasure Seekers challenged local club owner, Dave Leone, to feature them with a 3-song set list. He did, and they were on their way. The band played the college and bar circuits in Michigan and nearby states. Seeing the novelty of a kick ass, all-girl rockin band, Dave Leone recorded their first record, "Never Thought You'd Leave Me" and "What A Way To Die" on Hideout Records. They also charted in U.S. with a new record label, Mercury, and two singles, "Light of Love" and "Good Kind of Hurt". Touring the U.S., Canada, and Far East, the girls found themselves much in demand, and gaining momentum, when personnel changes changed the direction of the band. Following the trend into a heavier sound, the girls pulled sister Nancy
into the group as vocalist, as sister Arlene exited, concentrating on a new orignal sound, and continuing to rock through the U.S. playing festivals and colleges.
As this new band CRADLE (with 3 Quatro sisters) toured the country, discussions for recording gained momentum, with
Jeff Beck wanting to take the girls into the studio, as well as others. Next, Micki Most kidnapped Suzi to England
to start a solo career, and Patti and Nancy carried on with another talented sister duo as Cradle. Soon after,
Patti joined up with her brother Michael in the MQ Jam Band, and coproduced and played on an album, "Look Deeply Into the Mirror". It was in this band that June Millington saw Patti, and tagged her for lead guitar for Fanny, as she was exiting the band. Patti liked the idea of becoming the new guitar player for FANNY. The idea of a kick ass women's rock band was still her prime focus.
It's 1974 when the girls release their new album, called "Rock And Roll Survivors". The cover on this album (which had become some kind of a tradition at this point...especially for women in rock) was the ROLLING STONES classic "Let's Spend The Night Together". It was definitely a good choice.
The album has two songs that hit big on the Billboard charts, with Butter Boy (written about one of the girl's current BF--David Bowie) being banned in Boston for being considered too racy.
Today that album is a classic, and not one that is easy to find these days! Our friend Johnno just found a copy of the LP in a local store in his native Australia and has sent us a photo of the cover!! They toured the states and
Europe, finally ending with the girls desiring to go off in
other directions in 1975.
Patti settled in L.A., seguing into modeling and film work, as well as doing special performance and studio recording projects with Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson, ELO, Delaney and Friends, Billy Cox, and others. She also did a European tour with pop star Frances Gall, culminating in a live album with an all-female orchestra. She also enjoyed reuniting with her sisters on Suzi's album, "Your Mama Won't Like Me" as well as various English TV shows and tour performances with Suzi and sisters through the years.
This pales in comparison though to the crowning achievement of her illustrious career in music!!! No one will be ever able to top the 40 Member Sherpa Choir she assembled at the base of Mount Everest, and after climbing to the top, put on a full musical extravaganza of the Sound of Music which was filmed by the BBC and is a classic of mountaineering and music both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations Patti again on that amazing event!! Nancy did a reprise of Cradle's famous Rock Opera, which included "Climb Every Mountain",
which really takes on new meaning after hearing about that event in history!
How are the plans for the Rocky Horror Picture Show at Machu Picchu coming along?? We are all waiting for that one!! Keep us posted!!!!
