The 4th Annual Phoenix Music Awards - Saturday April 30, 2011
Five of nine musical performers and five Career Achievement Award recipients have been announced for the 4th Annual Phoenix Music Awards scheduled for Saturday, April 30th, 2011 at the Salt Mine Studios, located at 48 South MacDonald Street, in Mesa with red carpet media beginning at 5:30 p.m. Each performing musical act will have a company sponsor to represent them to at this event. Invitations have been extended to several artists in the state of Arizona as well as nationally to participate in this once a year red carpet extravaganza.
First, the 4th annual Phoenix Music Awards are proud to announce the live performance by nationally recognized teen band sensation The Lost Boys, who will be receiving the Producers Choice award for National Rock Band of the Year. They will be the opening act and will perform 2 songs. They are sponsored by www.bigrollingads.com
Next, we are pleased to announce the performance by Sabastian Roberts, who will be receiving the Producers Choice award for National Record of the Year. This award recognizes the work of the producers and engineers who make these recordings sound so good. He is sponsored by Homage Records out of Nashville, Tennessee. Sabastian will perform two 2 songs at the event. www.sabastianroberts.com
Brian Lawrence: National Male Singer / Songwriter of the Year. This prolific songster hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia and has put together an amazing debut album of heart centered songs that will connect with any listener. His appearance at the 4th annual Phoenix Music Awards event caps years of hard work and recording time that has put him on the stage at this yearly event. www.brianlawrencemusic.com
Willie Ames: National Solo Artist of the Year. This U of A grad and AZ local can attest to playing 1000 gigs and selling 15,000 cd's in Arizona alone. Willie has risen faster and with more impact than just about any recipient in 21 years of our sister production the Los Angeles Music Awards. He wowed audiences in 2010 with his talent on multiple instruments including the banjo, twelve string guitar and steel dobro. He has signed a deal with indie label Famous Records who is distributed by Universal Music Group. His appearance at this event will surely captivate our audience, just as he has done in LA. www.willieames.com
American Greed: American Greed: National Rock Single of the Year" Bigger Than Life". This St. Louis based ensemble of pro players is built on a solid rock foundation. Their style of music is what built the West Hollywood Sunset Strip from the 1960's until the 1990's, when Seattle held the rock music crown for about 5 years. In 2011, the historical roots of hard rock are represented perfectly by this great band of amazing musicians at the 4th Annual Phoenix Music Awards. www.americangreedrocks.com
We are very pleased to announce the first of five Lifetime and Career Achievement Awards to be presented for some very important and influential individuals who have direct ties to Arizona. They are:
David Kershenbaum: Lifetime Achievement Award, Music Producer. David and his musical endeavors have sold an astounding 80 million albums around the world. His work with such artists and Janet Jackson, Tracy Chapman, Bryan Adams and Duran, Duran have made him an icon in the music world. David has been connected to the state of Arizona for the past two decades by being heavily involved with the show horse business in Scottsdale. www.musicproshollywood.com
Ron Nevison: Career Achievement Award, Producer & Engineer. Ron has long been one of the most respected individuals in the music industry. His career spans over four decades with multi-platinum success with artists such as Heart, Bad Company, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Candlebox and many others. He has long ties to Arizona, having engineered many albums here in the past 20 years. www.ronnevison.com
Ryan Greene: Career Achievement Award, Music Producer for Arizona Artists and Bands. Ryan has worked with some very big artists in his career from the world of hard rock such as Megadeth, Jay-Z, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Gladys Knight, Tonic, NOFX, Lita Ford, Strung Out and many others. However, at this event he is being recognized for his production work on behalf of several Phoenix and Arizona based artists and bands including Grain of Truth, Hemoptysis, Back From Ashes and several others. His work in the recording studio is unparalleled in the independent music world. www.metalmusicpromotions.com/main/?p=794
Robert Mason: Career Achievement Award, Rock Vocalist. Few have been as important at reviving the career of a dormant band as Robert Mason has. With the other members of Warrant and their former vocalist Janie Lane doing nothing for several years after their hey day in the late 1980's and early 90's, Robert came along and brought them all the way back to their glory days. With sold out shows averaging 2,000 fans, Robert's presence in this band has made all the difference in their successful comeback. Robert is a Phoenix native and has resided here most of his life. The 4th Annual Phoenix Music Awards are proud to honor him at this event. www.myspace.com/warrantband
Niki D'Andrea: Lifetime Achievement Award, Music Journalism. Niki D'Andrea has been writing for music publications since 1992, beginning with small-press magazines like Tailspins and Music Kulture. In 2003, she created the "Soundcheck" music column for Echo magazine, and she served as music editor at Phoenix New Times from 2006 through 2008. D'Andrea's music writing has won numerous awards, including a first place Arizona Press Club Award for music blogging, and a "Salute to Excellence" Award from the National Association of Black Journalists for her story on blues drummer Chico Chism. Her work was also included in the Best Music Writing of 2008 anthology (Da Capo Press). Now a staff writer at Phoenix New Times, D'Andrea continues to write about music. Her most recent feature, "The Devil in DMX," was syndicated throughout the Village Voice Media chain of news weeklies.
