Yes, my office is offically Pumpkin'ed! I just got my pictures of the meet and greet (back in Sept) blown up, famed and in my office at work. Everyone is commenting on them. I think they are all super jealous. I have also found that I am having a rather hard time turning off my screen saver. It's all ramdom pictures of Billy from various web sites on 'slide show' set to turn .. 3 minutes of inactivity. I should change it if I want to get work done but I can't bring myself to do it. I just sit back and smile all day long.

Hey Amy. Just stopin to say hey, and i hope all is well. Any new pumpkin news? How do you feel about the re-release of zeitgeist? Honestly it didnt seem like something they would do. I dunno, just a little disapointing. Here we have bands like radiohead changing the way we buy music, now Trent Reznor who teamed up with some other guy released their cd online for no more than five dollars. so we kinda have this revolution of new options to get music to the fans. Then here's the pumpkins. Releasing the same album with a few extra songs and a dvd. Just came out of left field to me I dunno. Is it just me?!

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Smashing Pumpkins shows tonight and tomorrow at the Fox Theatre have been postponed because drummer Jimmy Chamberlain fell ill with chest discomfort and landed in a hospital, according to a press release at about 7 p.m. tonight. By doctor’s orders, he is to rest for seven days.

Promoter Rival Entertainment said it hopes to have new dates set within the next month. All tickets for Oct. 30 and 31 will be honored at the make-up dates so buyers should hold on to their tickets. If tickets need to get a refund, just go to your original place of purchase..

I know this comment is about three weeks late and isn't exciting news or anything, but at the Dodge Theater show I'm pretty sure there was a seperate sheet of paper next to Billy's setlist with the lyrics to Bring The Light printed on it. I couldn't see far enough so I had my friend read the first few lines she could see and they were the lyrics to Bring The Light. I remember taking note that Billy did look down around that area more than usual when they played Bring The Light. Is Billy known for forgetting the lyrics to that song? Did anyone else notice the paper? This is more of just an observation I thought I'd share.

I got rained out of the Tucson show on the 16th (but got in for free from a friend) then turned around and won the last pair of tickets the Edge 103.9 was giving out. I assumed they were meet & greet, called the station back to get the meet & greet info-afterwards Josh(concert promoter for the Edge) was sitting talking with me and my friend tells me that we were not on the list for the meet & greet but he couldn't tell me were weren't so he let us in anyway. JOSH ROCKS! I am a huge Pumpkins fan and have been for 15 years! It was a dream come true to meet him. I can't wait until it happens again. I won't be so star struck and I will have better questions to ask. I have my camera phone pics up for those who want to check them out. Enjoy!! Billy is awesome to see live in semi-private jammin' out. I loved seeing him work. He signed their grey t-shirt for me and I wish I would have grabbed my box set, but that's for next time. I have two so I could have framed one of them-no problem;)

Wow. Listen to the audience singing at the beginning of Today. But man that was fun.

I really wanted them to play Geek USA too. Here's the setlist, if it helps. They didn't play Gossamer, which would have rocked, but I think ending with Today was perfect.
I was in the front row a little to the right of Billy (from the crowd's point of view) so that when he came up to the crowd and played a solo he was right in front of me. Four of my friends were to the right of me (nearing Jeff). You were probably standing next to them or a few people away.

Sep 21 2007 1:42 PM

Sorry, that was "Zero", NOT "Lily". Don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that.

Sep 20 2007 6:04 PM

If any of you saw a dude with sideburns, and wearing a black sweater with a tie, that was me! I was right up in the FRONT row, right in front of Jeff! What an amazing show!!! I wish I had known about the meet and greet OR the after-show thing...

My one complaint (which is really no complaint at all!) is that they didn't play "Geek USA". Here's the setlist, or at least what I know of it:
--United States (w/ Star-Spangled Banner guitar solo weirdness!)
--Bullet With Butterfly Wings
--That's The Way (My Love Is)
--Neverlost
--Stand Inside Your Love
--Tonight Tonight
--Tarantula
--Starz
--Lily (My One And Only)
--[unrecognized long jam]
--Thirty-Three (acoustic)
--[Another acoustic song, I think it's from Machina...?]
--Perfect (acoustic w/ Jimmy on tambourine)
--To Sheila (Billy acoustic, with the whole band backing)
--[unrecognized song w/ HUGE guitar solo]
--Hummer
--Bring The Light (extended ending)
--Cherub Rock
--[a long song which included the words "heavy metal" but was NOT Heavy Metal Machine... was it from Machina II, perhaps?]
--ENCORE: [unrecognized long rocker]
--Doomsday Clock
--SECOND ENCORE: Today

Can anyone help with the ones I missed?

Sorry for such a long comment! I guess it's turned into two. I could go on about the show and everything else about it for a long time. I can't believe I got a chance to see The Smashing Pumpkins live. Can't wait for videos and pictures!

Billy is one of the greatest people ever. Maybe even the greatest. He's just so nice to his fans and he, along with the rest of the band, looked like they were having so much fun up on stage last night.
I was in the right place at the right time and I got to go backstage for the soundcheck and the meet and greet. I didn't do the Edge 103.9 contest because there was no way I was going to listen to their station weeks in a row. This guy who did win talked to me earlier in the day while I was in line and asked me when they were doing the meet and greet. Later when the Edge was about to do the meet and greet, he approached me and said that his friend wasn't showing up and that I could take his place!
The soundcheck was pretty long and they did three songs/parts of songs multiple times, as a soundcheck usually goes. Bring The Light, Ava Adore (which they didn't play during the actual the show), and United States. Billy and Jimmy joked around a lot and laughed, but still stayed professional and serious about getting everything sounding right. As a side note, Billy has one of the cutest and most contagious smiles I have ever seen.
Lisa and Ginger seemed very cool and started conversations with fans, such as asking me about my bright nail polish and make up. Jimmy came and stood next to me for about the whole time they were doing the meet and greet, just chatting with people. I had to move after a few minutes because all I could do was smile and not believe what was happening. Jeff and Billy were more quiet but I couldn't talk to them because I was lost for words!
I saw Billy after the show but I was behind a few other people. It was so kind of him to come out after the show to say hi to fans... I know a lot of people were disappointed that he didn't want to sign anything because he'd feel like he'd have to sign everyone's stuff and he didn't have time for that, but just coming out to say hi seems nicer.
