PHOENIX YZ originally from Macon, GA lives in Atlanta , GA and rests in her poems. She has been writing since she was a child and has recently begun performing Spoken Word and Slam! in front of any microphone that will have her. Her poetry touches on a variety of themes all of which shed new perspectives on thought provoking certainties. One poet says "Her poetry takes universal ideas and writes them in a way you've never quite heard before." PhoenixYZ is also a budding actress, musician, and writer of various other literary works. She is sophomore member of the nationally competitive Art AMOK! Atlanta slam team. She's has also hosted a series of open mics all over town and will be coming soon to a mic near you! She's a caregiver, survivor, who plans to save the world one poetical message at a time!and spins storyteller webs that tell the truth from past, present,and into the future.

Her soul's search is to continue to receive the universe and share all of its messages whether it be through politics, activism, revolution, subtlety, song, in a bottle, a book, whatever it takes the tap the microphone in her chest and crank the surround sound up full BLAST! Her words must mean something, they always communicate a message.
The first PhoenixYZ CD was recorded in 2005 and is entitled "A to PhoenixYZ" along with a similar companion chapbook. She is currently preparing her second CD which she plans to release in the Summer of 2007!

it's so funny, this little conundrum,
which warring folks and those who support their primary function,
repeatedly drone on: "god made the world to be this way,
so who's to say, what wrong or right?" they say...
apparently they think they are
the chosen ones to carry uzis,
claiming the ultimate power to take life,
and all in the name of Allah or Jesus...
to put it simply, war is private mourning
sublimated into public vengeance
and if you could REALLY forgive your enemies
there'd be no more war,
so why don't you come to your senses?
yes and who's to accept the circumstances as they are ?
I ask with solemn deference
while riding in your car
looking up the stars...
cause if you could could really forgive existence
and accept that death is always here
then this fucked-up cycle of vengeance would
finally disappear...
there never was a borderline
there never was a spoken truth
there only was this consciousness
uniting all in the same root
so i don't care what country you're from
i don't care what name you call god
if you could really forgive
there'd be no more war
