About the Phoenix Zoo
The Phoenix Zoo mission is to inspire people to live in ways that promote the well-being of the natural world by achieving excellence in ecosystem exhibition, education and conservation that will be a principle attraction for residents and visitors. We have approximately 1,200 animals on exhibit at our Zoo, including our collections of mammals, fish, invertebrates, birds, and reptiles.
Phoenix Zoo has been in operation since 1962 and is one Arizona's most significant cultural and education resources with over 1.3 million visitors a year. Phoenix Zoo is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization . The Zoo receives no city, state or federal support and that ALL our operating revenue comes from admissions, concessions, memberships, corporate and private support as well as our fundraising events such as ZooFari.
