In the spirit of BBE’s Beat Generation series Just Like Vibes is launching this new serie that will focus on new beatmakers. The idea is to show the world some of the unknown talents we have in France

The first 12’’ of Phohat was released in may 2007 with great response in Japan and UK. The first Phohat 12” defines the artistic vision of the serie, "Intelligenti Pauca" meaning “few words suffice for he who understands”.

Growing up in Aulnay(93), Phohat has been surrounded by hip-hop since the late 80’s and has been handling the sampler for more than 15 years. An MC at first, he chose to focus on production at 15, then launch his own label at 21. Happiness for Phohat is to lock himself in his basement, to listen to David Axelrod, Jay Dee, Pete Rock and more, before turning on his Kurtweil keyboard and starting new beats. For this album Phohat demonstrates a wide array of talents : “ I hope it will be felt by other people, that’s my challenge. The first few tracks on the album have a Worldbeat feel in the rhythms, then the record grows into a more MC oriented sounds. I didn’t want to have a rap sounding album. Each track has different influences. I included some songs that are a few years old. When I began to work on the tracklisting for the album, I went back to my old disks of beats that were made at different periods of my life. Some songs are old but nobody has ever heard them, so I just mixed them properly and I kept the best things I made.”
