I decided my DJ name should be Michelle Q, because the Michelle was first, and the Q came, after appreciating my last name and where it came (I used to hate it, because I thought it was different).
I grew up in a tiny town up North called Porterville, and over a decade ago moved out here to pursue a dream of becoming a professional dancer. Things didn't happen as I planned it, but I know the years of mixing music for my dance teams back home with 2 tape decks (and a metronome), helped me for the day I was inspired by others to try using 2 turntables (and a microphone). I'm a baby of the 70's, influenced most by Motown Soul, Disco Funk...then Freestyle, Old School, RnB...to Hip Hop, House, and Afrobeat. I want to take people from "the new to the old - the old to the new" with music that can help others, to find their own groove.

To accomplish this mission, our Family Violence Program provides support services to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Situated in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, all of the services that Grace Center provides are free to the client." Services for families in crisis include:
1. Emergency response
2. Crisis intervention, counseling
3. Educational outreach programs at local schools, colleges, and community agencies
4. Support groups for English and Spanish speaking clients
5. On-site services at local elementary schools providing trauma interviews for kids who have witnessed domestic violence
6. Support groups at local high schools for teenage survivors of domestic violence
7. Shelter and safe house referrals
8. Referrals for food, clothes, medical, legal, and social service resources
9. Advocacy and coordination with social services, law enforcement and judicial agencies
