Mini Book Review!
Cuba 15, Nancy OsaViolet Paz’s abuela wants her to have a quince to celebrate her fifteenth birthday. The only problem is that Violet has absolutely no idea what a quinceañero is. Half Cuban and half Polish, Violet has grown up in Chicago with no understanding of it means to be Cuban (besides playing a lot of dominoes). With the help of her friends and, eventually her family, Violet has her own quinceañero ceremony (without the "puffy pink dress"), and learns about becoming a woman, with all of the related responsibilidad y libertad.
