    Jay and Dan met in 1979 in the Novi neighborhood where they both lived. Dan was having a roller skating party in front of his house so Jay walked over to go skating . A year later Jay was visiting a neighbor on Dan's street and went over to meet Dan again. Dan was playing an electric guitar. Jay had been playing guitar for years, having been encouraged by his dad, but he had never played a rock song. Dan showed Jay how to play "back in black: (AC/DC). Within a week they were playing every day together. Through their teen years they had several bands such as "kashmir" and "northern cross". During high school they teamed up with Chris and started seriously working on songs by their favorite band RUSH. They found a singer and went into the studio for the first time to record Jay's song "Christine". In 1991 In 1994 Jay and Dan started a lawn service business, and with extra money Jay was able to buy a Tascam 4 track recorder. From there the songwriting and recording really began. In 1996 they took a break from writing their own songs and joined a local rock band "Odessa". When the band broke up, Jay bought an 8 track recorder. Jay and Dan started writing their own songs again. Surprisingly, the new equipment really improved their sound quality. With songs like "springtime" and "silver skies", their motivation grew. After writing their 30th song, they knew they had the process down. They wrote and completed one song every time they got together. By 2004 they had written 100 songs. But then they hit some hard times within their own families. It wasn't until December 8th, 2008, with Jay's new pro-tools equipment, that they returned to writing and recording in their current style. They now write an average of 2 to 3 songs per week, allowing 2-3 hours to start, complete, and record each song. They have now completed another 100 songs, including a phone message jingle for a large company. With encouragement from friends, they created a My-space page, and returned to one of Jay's old band names The "The Psychotic Potatoes" . These self-taught talented musicians have been Playing for over 30 years, and have been writing and recording their own music for 20 years. They now have over 235 songs that they have written and recorded. Their music is so unique that it can't be classified under anyone particular genera.
