Phylr is Jim Filer Coleman.
A split CD release of Phylr and Aabzu was recently released in Poland and other parts of Europe. Over this past summer a Nail records compilation featuring numerous Coleman tracks and Baby Zizanie tracks was released in Europe as well.
Currently I'm slowly working on new Phylr tracks, as well as several different projects:
A new here album is in the works with co-conspirator Teho Teardo.
The Children... is my latest collaboration with NYC downtown performance artist and actor Michael Weiner (the posted track entitled Bigger than Us is a song from this collaboration.
Simmering a hip hop project called Felonistic (don't worry, it aint me rapping, I'm just creating beats and melodies alongside DJ Butterface).
I'm continuing to score music for True Crime TV. Check out "Death of a Rising Star" on Court TV on September 15 at 10 PM EST I believe. (I did the music for this show). It's a well crafted doc on the death of Mia Zapata, ex lead singer from the seminal Seattle band The Gits. I'm also doing several episodes for the A&E series "The First 48". Additionally I'm doing some remixes for Steve Wynn, Foetus and Asymptote.
Historically: I played in Cop Shoot Cop from 1989 until the bands demise in 1995 or 1996. Put out 2 albums as Phylr. 1 album as here, with Teho Teardo (and Honeychild appears alot on that album). I did a solo release as Coleman with Nail records in Italy. Also on Nail Records there was a Baby Zizanie release: baby Zizanie is a collaboration between myself and JG Thirlwell (aka Foetus, Steroid Maximus). I have also scored films for Hal Hartley, Beth B, Danny Leiner and Todd Phillips. Created sounds and music for Theatre and Dance (BAM's Next Wave Festival, Salzburg Opera Festival).
And I'm still hungry!
TORTUGA BAR - STORM EP (VIERSIEBEN RECORDS/FINETUNES) OUT NOW!
This online EP release (5 Tracks & Artwork) is not just an appetizer for the album which follows on June 26 - among the album versions of "Storm" (feat. Evan Dando) and "Feel the Love" it contains a remix of "Storm", made by labelmates Monocular, the track "Cavallo Pazzo (Song For Mondo Fumatore To Sing)" feat. Werner Kureinski, former member of Aheads and "Do It Right", a nice version of the Daniel Johnston song performed by Tortuga Bar and Navel.
We are very proud to announce, that Monocular s "Water Shape EP" is available at your favorite Online-Store now.
Containing the single "Water Shape" from the forthcoming album "Somewhere On The Line" (April 03, 2009 VierSieben Records/Alive) and three non-album tracks ("Consequence", "To Admire The Life", "Ravenclaw"), it is definitely a must have for all fans of filigree and athmospheric electrosounds.
Where bands like Lamb or Frou Frou left a gap in the late 90s and early 21st century, Monocular redefined the sound and set new standards in developing their complex music by connecting charismatic vocals with entrancing soundscapes.
Happy new year to you too. I too have been busy with my 2 jobs, but sorta stuck in a rut.. I want to get out tour, do parties, meet and greet proper AR and music peeps - but I lack proper equipment, management, and don't have a single day off. So I work and don't seem to get a float much - funny how that works. Well glad to see you are in multi-projects right now and world is looking up for you. Currently on the music thing I'm producing a few things for local artists here in OC, Cali and doing my music of course but nothing notable at the moment.
Well stay in touch and keep me posted on up coming tracks. If i don't comment you immediately send me a message here on myspace and I'll get on it. I get somewhere between 30-50 adds a day and it becomes hard to focus. Good to know my name is floating out there.. If you type in dj longhair to yahoo, Google and some other search engines I'm generally 1st to pop up.

Well let know me when there is too much over flow. I can do remixes of all sorts - 16 bit warrior style at the moment... but I can do any style that the customer request.. But like I said before you helped to motivate me to be where I'm at.. and further..
Long story short I hyped you since listening to DRUG TEST 2 then 1 then especially 3... you where the the first then I was the driving force that brought Portishead to San Diego., Whatever right I get no props.. but I love your music just the same. I turned on a few heads to your music.... either way I found you both though a few underground heads I met at the time - and your track "Circumference" got me going hardcore and as I don't have track in front of me - the one by you and the remix off of Drug Test 2 (I love that track the best so far I still await to hear blood and more). So I can't complain. I just hope to be eventually as good as you..
No lies there. I'm just stoked you added me. as I've been looking for your shiznit for several years and you happened to find me instead. What a trip. So after your projects at the moment - lets join insanities???
Anyways thanks for humoring me so far. Let me know if you can send tracks through email as it's impossible to get you cds through invisible.
Sweet - let me know if I can be of any assistance. If $$ where involved that would be better.. but I would love a collab. did you get a chance to check out the new track? (the spam I sent ya earlier)
Also If you can't spare the time due to abbundance of projects perhaps you can send the "cds" electronically or through email??
