Or, if you were the last man or woman on earth, and could wish for your very own personal pianist who could keep you company, I would sound like him or her. In fact, if you were stuck on a deserted island, a pianist like me, could brighten your days and nights and prevent you from losing your mind!
John Pedersen is a pianist-organist from Southern California. Born in the suburbs of Chicago, IL, he moved to Escondido, CA at age 8. Studies began at age 11 on the organ with Charles Rutherford and by age 15, John became the organist at Resurrection Church in Escondido (CA) a post he still holds today. Throughout his teens and beyond, Mr. Pedersen played in a number of rock and country bands, which added a different dimension to his style. Although classical organ instruction began at this time with Brett Michael Hauser, John became deeply enamored by the piano. He would later spend three years in college as a piano performance major. Despite nearly a decade of formal classical training, John plays in a multitude of other styles such as, jazz, new age and rock without hesitation. With five CDs and one digital downloadable album released in the past decade, John's listeners have a great variety of music to inspire them. The latest release, SELECTED PIANO WORKS (2008), is a collection of John's piano solos available as a free download from New Age Piano.Net. GROOVIDI was released in 2007, which was more of a smooth jazz project. Nonetheless, several outstanding solo piano tracks were included on the disc. Before that, in 2006, PARADISE won over many instrumental music fans with four stellar piano tunes and a wonderful mix of smooth jazz and chill out electronica. WHEN SUN BROKE THROUGH, released in 2002, showcased an upbeat new age sound with piano stylings along with a fair share of ambient textures. LEGEND AND LANDSCAPE was a 2000 "New Millenium" offering with a strong Native American influence with orchestrated tunes and lush soundscapes. John's debut, WHITE OWL, was unveiled in 1997 and featured a mystical new age sampling that included, you guessed it, piano. Currently, John is a piano instructor with over 40 talented students and continues as a church organist-pianist.
