For 20 years now, Jens Schliecker, piano, and Nils Rohwer, vibraphone and marimba, have been working together very successfully, at home as well as abroad.
Piano meets Vibes is a name and program in one. An unusual combination of two instruments on the one hand is equaled by the broad and open horizon of the duo on the other. Years of working in different band projects and with different styles of music have given the musicians an unmistakable maturity.
Their music today is thus characterized by a large repertoire and powerful compositions stemming from their own pen. Elements from jazz, Latin-American, folk, classical and modern music are combined in the compositions of this duo. Melodies and themes form the foundation on which highly polished harmony and exciting rhythms vary.
A remarkable style has clearly emerged from their inspired creativity and very fine feeling for atmospheres. Juggling between the worlds of music, they appeal to a large audience between classics and jazz with their impressive and visual compositions. ..
20 Jahre schon setzt das schleswig-holsteinische Duo zarte Crossover Akzente auf der breiten Jazz-Folk-Pop-Landkarte.
Der Mittelpunkt dieser langanhaltenden kreativen Zusammenarbeit der beiden Musiker und Komponisten ist der Akustik-Live-Act in der Instrumentation Klavier, Marimba, Vibraphon. Viele konzertante Höhepunkte, sowie mehrere CD-Produktionen haben immer wieder das hohe Ansehen der Musiker bei Publikum und Presse europaweit bestätigt.
Nach der Uraufführung des von ihnen komponierten Orchesterzyklus in 3 Sätzen folgten Auftragskompositionen für Fernseh - und Filmmusik.
Der Zufall wollte es, daß die Elemente Film- und Livemusik in dem Projekt "Piano meets Vibes goes Cinema" zu einer neuen Dimension zusammenwuchsen. Viele Filmklassiker wurden schon neu vertont und Live performed.
Sogar bis in das Repertoire von Musikhochschulen gelangte das Notenmaterial von "Piano meets Vibes" - fast alle Kompositionen aus dem Bereich Akustik Duo, Ensemble/Quartett und Orchester sind erhältlich. Auch die Ausbildung junger Musiker nimmt einen wichtigen Platz in ihrer Arbeit ein.
