InfluencesHmm...probably classical musicians, but my music isn't classical! Any group/artist that uses a piano? Or you can say people's stories, people's lives, the dog next door, little children...
Sounds LikeI'm not sure. Maybe Regina Spektor and Tori Amos together with a bit of Matt Bellamy from Muse and Chopin. Elliott Smith during his Either/Or cd. Maybe even the kid who can't sing who just won't shut up. =)

   About Jorge
My name is Jorge and I play piano(which is my favorite!) along with some other instruments. I listen to many different types of music and I am always open to listening to something new. I create music, and songs, and I do that using a drum machine(sometimes a real drum set), a nifty keyboard, and other instruments. I like to sing, and sometimes I think that I actually sing well. Welcome to my world. Don't forget to smile. And watch this video for "Inside the Indie". Because I'm sure you haven't. =D And when you're done watching the video, keep June in your mind because the film will be part of Seattle's True Independent Film Festival.

hello.

Jul 13 2009 12:46 AM

Sunday turned out not the way I hoped it would. I got to church 15 minutes later than I usually do. I waited until the very last second to go into the chapel as I waited for someone who never showed up, so I don't get to say goodbye to him properly. It's been over a week since I've seen him and I was hoping to see him today.

Maybe Germany does have a tight leash on everyone.

It does get annoying at some point. Luckily, it ain't like that in Spain.

I understand where you're coming from. Maybe when you come back, you
should try playing the streets of Seattle. I know people listen to the
street musicians there. You might have better luck stateside.

I hate all the bad signs I've been getting. It's be nice if they turned
into good ones or disappeared altogether. I'm trying to be as happy as
possible. It's kinda hard. I'm definitely looking forward to Sunday.

There's a lot of Africans in Spain. How is there nothing like that in Germany? I'm not going if they don't have that there! It makes things more interesting.

I'm glad you got the piano job.

Why can't you see yourself playing music on the streets again?

I dunno what a "Bruniger Land" is. I feel so not smart now. Hopefully you can be there both days.

I know those feelings are scary. I don't want to have them but they're there. And I've been having even worse signs. :S Would it be wrong to say I'm worried about them signs? I'm trying to stay positive and focus on that I get to see my best friend on Sunday. It's helping some but not a lot.

Hahaha. Great story. And it's definitely like that in Spain with the Africans. A lot of the Africans are illegal in Spain, though. I dunno how many are legally in Italy. I heard that the Africans will swim the Strait of Gibraltar and enter into Spain illegally that way.

You should definitely bought the drum instead of wasting that much on the gambling. The drum would have been a lot more fun!

No worries about you not replying back. I was busy all last week through Sunday. The only time I was home was long enough to get about 5 hours or less of sleep and get ready to go back out again.

You've definitely got to tell me stories.

A piano interview? That'll be fun. Good luck. It's definitely something I can see you doing.

My sunburn's all gone. I thought I got a slight one on the fourth of July but that disappeared overnight. Yours doesn't sound good.

Yeah, I'm going to New York. I leave in a week, so on the 14th. The same day Kevin goes to Germany. I'm not really excited about going. It's not the plane rides or anything. I've just got a bad feeling about it. Like something horrible is going to happen to someone here while I'm gone and there won't be anything I can do to prevent it since I'll be 3000 miles away.

Hey Jorge! Not a lot. Just about to go get ready to go to my best friend's house. I was there last night for about three hours and it was great.

I'm so jealous that you got to go to Italy! I want to go there. Three days is never enough to get to know a place. But you can at least say that you've been to Italy.

Unfortunately, I've been on the busy side with people or doing stuff around the house. It sucks having to do all the housework.

I've been busy. I was sitting outside for about half an hour/45 minutes yesterday afternoon and the tops of my legs got sunburned. :( Luckily, the burn isn't that bad and should heal in a couple of days.

It's cool that you could use Spanish in Italy and be understood.

Hello!  I'm going to be up in Seattle on July 15th for a show at Studio 7 and I was hoping you could make it. :]  If you're interested, tickets are $8 if you buy them before the 15th, or $10 at the door.  There's more information on my page, or you could just send me a message if you're interested in getting a ticket.  I hope you can make it!

I was gonna listen to it when I got home from church yesterday but I ended up going over to my friend Bekah's house until 10. Her 4 year old sister wanted my attention almost the whole time I was there. That kid takes up a lot of energy. When I got home, I was exhausted and almost couldn't change out of my church clothes. Sorry.

Thanks for the 'Happy birthday'. It was alright. I got just over $100, so I don't feel so poor now.

I have a lot of passions but none I think I could ever really focus on outside the arts (photography and writing mainly).

And yes, I have been asked that numerous times. I'm sure you've asked before as well.

German takes a lot of work. It looks like there's all sorts of rules for grammar and structure and everything. Not something I think I could ever learn.

At least you understand it better now. And I know what 'jaja' means. I have Spanish friends, 'member? They've taught me things I probably shouldn't know.

I'll send my address in a message soon. Don't worry about not having asked when we first started talking about them.

I'm kind of bored with school, too, honestly. It's driving me up the wall and it's hard to figure out what you need to get the degree. And it's even worse when you don't even know what you want to do in the long run. It's way too expensive to go to school. If only it was cheaper.

A second time usually helps with language. It also helps to keep up with it. I know Kevin keeps up with his German because of him going to Germany every year and half of his family being German and all. Creative writing classes tend to be fun. Especially the ones at Pierce with Darcher but I don't think he's going to be teaching it anymore. Especially with the way people had been slacking in class with their portfolios and whatnot.

Nice job on not noticing it cutting off. Maybe you did write too much but we shall never know. I wonder what the funny title was now that you've forgotten it.

Smaller parties are the best. I know I don't need a lot of people around to have a good time. I had a hell of a time explaining that to him. I finally got through to him about that on Friday when I told him that I just want time with him and our other best friend. That's honestly all I need -- time with certain friends.

It sucks that you won't have close friends around for your 21st! At least Kevin will be there this summer and y'all can go do stuff together and have fun in Germany. He leaves for Germany the same day I leave for New York this summer. But I leave that night and am flying all night long and getting in at 10 or so in the morning over there.

I figured it was around 18. Whatever the drinking age is, you're definitely past it. So am I, for that matter. I was just under the drinking age when I was in Spain since it's 18 there and I was 17 when I was there.

Why don't you think that school is for you? You'll figure out what you're meant to do in time. And music is always going to be in your life. It's more than something you listen to or make -- it's a lifestyle.

When you figure out what a lunatic like you is to do, let me know what it is since I'm one, too. It just might help.

Those are some really... interesting... lyrics.  That girl was random. Hopefully those kids were giving you compliments. Maybe you should do that again when Kevin's there and he can translate for you. What was all you could do? It kinda cut off.
Cassie

'Solid' works.

You got a point on saying that something is awesome and that someone's expectations from that can be shattered if they don't think it solid.

I don't know if I am ready to hit 20. We'll see what happens when Monday comes around. One of my best friends has been bugging me for the past couple of weeks on what I want. For a while there, he was insisting on a party but he finally accepted that all I really want is just time with him and our other best friend. That's all I really need - time with them. I don't really care for big parties, like the one he wanted to have for me.

You're turning 21 and you aren't even gonna be here to celebrate that with your first legal drink in the U.S.  The drinking age is somewhere around 18, isn't it? It's probably even lower than that but I don't remember from what Karoline said when she was in Washington. Her being here was a long time ago.

At least you can say you played on the streets of Germany now. Which is pretty awesome. It sucks that you didn't get an euros from it though. You tried and that's what counts.

Was it at least fun playing music on the streets?

hey jorge.  everything went great.  MUCH better than expected.  It's amazing.  I have faith in so many other things now.  if that makes sense.  The whole week I've been so irritable and short tempered.  Now I'm extremely calm.  and looking forward to the next screening.  There might be another by the way.  In July.  So yeah.  Oh, by the way.  It's official.  I'm coming to Germany July 14th!
