Less dense than his Prefuse 73 and even Savath & Savalas material, Piano Overlord unveils yet another side of the remarkably gifted Guillermo "fuckin" Herren, even if the project's acoustic sound sometimes drinks melodically and rhythmically from the Prefuse well. Interestingly enough, the project originated by way of error, specifically Herren losing material that prevented him from giving Money Studies a promised Diplo remix. To compensate, Herren created for the label entirely new Piano Overlord material using non-synthesized keyboards and drums, though in a deliberately more restrained fashion than his norm. featured remixes:

"After the enormous success of the first Piano Overlord EP (already an Ebay collector's item), Money Studies presents the final EP before the release of the full length album. They did not want to give too much away so they've included one of the album's strongest tracks 'Stay Home,' and then added three high profile remixes that will not be on the final vinyl album. First up, people's champ Count Bass D drops a remix of the album's centerpiece 'Recuerdas.' Count goes all the way, interpolating the original's synth lines and dropping his off-the-cuff signature verses. Plug Research's Adventure Time (aka Daedelus & Dublab's Frosty) supply one of their best remixes incorporating bossa, downtempo beats, and the AT quirkiness. And finally, Money Studies' in-house producer and artist on the rise (last featured on the Spank Rock Remix 12"), drops the EP's most stunning remix where he shows his studio skills by dropping verses over the Prefuse-inspired beats. "This new project has been highly anticipated since "THE OVERLORD" announced it on his website. T.P.O. played all instruments (primarily Rhodes, drums, and bass) for all the songs, and rearranged them in his studio in Spain. The result is an electronic album with unparalled feel and depth, but with all the signature production nuances intact. It's sounds like the perfect mix of the hip-hop sensibilities of Prefuse 73 and the chillout elements of Savath & Savalas. The CD version will feature 4 bonus tracks that were previously available only on the limited edition Tease & Torturevinyl EPs.
