12/14/08:
Hi. In the real world, I go by Jay, but in the musical world, I go by videosforpictures. Originally, videosforpictures was just the account name for my music account on YouTube. This changed once I released my first EP. People kept asking what my music alias was. Jay wouldn't work. So I said 'videosforpictures'. And the name kinda stuck.
I started singing when I was 3. I started writing lyrics when I was 9. I started putting piano to the lyrics when I was 12.
I released my first EP, Very Three, back in March of 2008. It's a 7-song demo that I recorded with my video camera and edited with free audio software.
I'm currently in the midst of creating my first full-length album, The Gang's All Here. This time, I'm keeping with the low-budget theme and using just a Tascam DP02-CF recording studio, an SM58 mic, and the free audio software that I used last time. Zane, or Zanois as he's called in the musical world, is producing part of the album. The two songs I've sent to him are finished, but I'm having problems with the other ones and I need to re-record them. Hopefully I'll get it done by the end of winter.
For now, I have six songs above for you to listen to. They're all outtakes from Very Three and The Gang's All Here (except for The LHC, which will be on the first full-length album.) Enjoy. :)
Hey dudes! How goes the record affiliation thing? Can't wait to hear the Dryas stuff. I've listened to "All Day Long" about 10 times everyday for the last 6 days. Really cool, as is Les miserables, partie two. We're working on our summer tour thing being booked right now and we are mos def going to need some other bands for shows and such, so we'll let you know about ones in your area that we've got.
Cool. It's kind of up in the air at what time you'll perform, depending if the other bands get here on time. Plan on playing somewhere between 20-40 minute set.
Hey dude, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I did get your tracks to Jonestown, shortly after which my computer has been working on and off, so I've started working on it, but haven't finished. I promise you I will be done by Sunday at the very latest.
My friends Kenny, Sean and I found three water bottles with different amounts of water in them, so we took out and added water to them until, together, they made a minor chord. We blew those in rhythym to stomping, and my friend Jacob doing a crazy blues bass line, while Isaac rapped.
It was pretty sweet.
And I don't know if I can do this weekend, since it's pretty much over, but almost definitely the next. Would that work for you?
