    THE PICTUREBOOKS Das Debut Album 'List Of People To Kill' kam im Frühling 2009 aus dem Nichts und konnte Radios und Fachpresse und auch Fans mehr als begeistern. Keine lange Bandhistorie, keine Seitenverweise, keine Vorgängerbands - eine frische, junge Band, die auf der Bildfläche erschien. Und dennoch wurden schnell Superlative ausgepackt, die Band kurzerhand zu den besten gezählt, als musikalischer Sturm bezeichnet und eine große Zukunft vorausgesagt. Aber auch die Bühnen-Performances bestätigten dies und auch hier wurde internationale Klasse attestiert! Das Erstaunlichste jedoch, THE PICTUREBOOKS wurden nie als deutsche Version eines internationalen Sounds abgestempelt, sondern als absolut eigenständig gefeiert! Nicht zuletzt eine monatelange Rotation des letzten Videos zu 'You Cannot Make It Right' auf dem englischen Trendsetter Format NME TV bestätigt dies auf beeindruckende Weise. Nun scheint das Duo über sich hinauszuwachsen und schraubt den Standard Gleich mehrere Stufen höher. 'Artificial Tears' ist keineswegs eine Wiederholung des Debüts mit neuen Songs, sondern eine unglaubliche Entwicklung, die für einen Newcomer selten ist. Losgelöst, eigenständig und zeitgemäß all das auf den Punkt gebracht, was Rock heutzutage ausmacht. Großes Songwriting, das nach mehr Aufmerksamkeit schreit. Eine Produktion die spannend und vielseitig ist. Lasziv, fiebernd, tanzbar und voller Überraschungen. Dreiste Gitarrensounds, elektronische Farbtupfer und immer wieder unerwartete Wendungen und Ecken. Verweise in alle Dekaden der Rockmusik und ein souveräner Frontmann können dieses Album zu einem Aushängeschild werden lassen. 'Artificial Tears' braucht keinen internationalen Vergleich zu scheuen und schiebt sich selbstbewusst nach Vorne.
