Said about Pictorial Wand.
"Pictorial Wand simply is the Norwegian Ayreon blended with a softer version of Royal Hunt meets Rhapsody including some authentic AOR hooks to add to the melodic nature of some of the arrangements." - On the Rocks
"I might as well say this at the beginning: This album is easily the best thing I've heard in 5 years. While it is neo-progressive in execution, everything about it feels like classic progressive rock from the 70s.
The music is grand and complex and like other concept operatic works, includes narration to help tell the story. Again, this is not overdone and generally complements the music. Many of the songs are pretty long and there are many compositional relationships to bind it all together.
What I like the most about the music is the presence of analogue synths, along with rich compliments of flute, cello, oboe and the violin. This is a warm sounding CD unlike the precise coldness of so much modern music today." - ProgressiveWorld.net
"The album has a musical flow equivalent to the fluid motion of a lava lamp. The tempos rise slowly and dramatically, linger in a few dark areas, and start to descend with a gripping ardor that really is something to behold. The sound ranges from the classic rock heaviness of Queensryche to the atmospheric artistry of Pink Floyd, with a little Jethro Tull folk, ELP and Kansas-like classic rock, and traditional classical influences thrown in for good measure.
While listening to both discs straight through, I felt like I was cast out upon an ocean of sound and melody; transported to another place. I have not heard an album this solid in a very long time. To take so many elements of sound and fit them together seamlessly would seem to be a dauntless task; one that has been fulfilled perfectly.
This is a perfect record in every way." - Are u on Something
"It's a really ambitious work, an Ayreon-like Prog-opera, though only by its structure, because music is more refined and varied. The orchestra is always in the background and links together some guitar-oriented tracks (never too heavy), some symphonic tunes and others with several folk attitude. Finally you can often breathe epic and pompous sounds to add more pathos to the story." - Tales of Wonder
Pictorial Wand is a project I started back in 2003-2004. I wanted to make a large epic concept and ended up with the double-album "A Sleeper..s Awakening". Signing with the wonderful canadian label Unicorn Digital, the dream of presenting my music for the progworld had become a reality. A Sleeper..s Awakening" got real good reception and was even nominated for best foreign album in ProgAwards 2006. As for now I have just finished the second album. "Face of our Fathers" was released April 20th and you can listen to a couple of tunes here in myspace.
Take care:-)

Hi Mattis, I just bought your last album and listen to it permanently at the moment, recommending it to my friends! The previous one was great, this one confirms your talent and the one fo the band. It is really a masterpiece. I like a lot the combination between acoustic and electric guitars, and the keys are top, as well as the nice vocals. Congrats to the singers and the musicians.
