Pie at the Wyrd of Stake Moss, 14.7.07, Tom Winstanley sitting in on drums, amazing sewing solo from Mr. Eastwood!
The pie story starts around 2001 when Guitar & strings player/maker Brian Eastwood, latterly elusive percussionist Joe Caswell and singer/songster Boo Long met, had a play together and found it difficult to stop!
All three had vast experience playing with other bands but found, in Pie, a marvellous equal partnership without a particular front or back role for anyone.
The name? ...Eastwood suggested 'Rattlesnake Pie', Long suggested there are no rattlesnakes in Lancashire, Caswell suggested plenty of pies though! Of late, Joe has been living in the woods down in Wales, so we've been roadtesting various drummers, and have found lovely Lindsay Riley to be just the job.... Economical, reasonable acceleration and very tenacious on the corners.
He's a really good left handed bass player by trade, so seeing as Pie never use a bass player it seems only right to have one playing the drums!
Free to download. Mike Duff’s poem KING OF THE SCUTTLERS. Music and arrangement by Steve Booth (guitar and vocals), Rob Barlow (double bass) and Mickey Lyons (banjo). Performed live at the Harpurhey neighbourhood project. Recorded and mixed by Adam Booth, go to www.myspace/stevewbooth.
TonyD to run the "acoustic open mic" night at Wittles Current mood: high Category: Music Just as one off for now, Johnny Harper has asked me and Steve to run the "acoustic open mic" night at Wittles Oldham,
- Tuesday 5th May 2009.
I have oprganised a few people to come along and do a set - Sue Denim & Jon Mambo (Queeny & Pawn), Pete Greenfield, Mike Mellor and Steve Love. There will be the usual open mic. Steve and I will do a set to start off at about 9:00pm, the music goes on to about 12:00, 11:30 last oprders. I went down last night, and it was a very enjoyable evening, more acoustic than usual with a jembi instead of the full kit. I will be organising the running order, so let me know if you fancy playing.
So, a different night, great PA, and new audience. Next Tuesday - Acoustic Open Mic - Wittles Oldham.
