My name is Blake, or part of my name is. It’s the middle part to be exact, but “Blake” is what I’m called most.
Piece of Clay Music and Entertainment is a management, marketing, and promotion machine working with Artists whose passions and skills are larger than life, and are purposefully striving to influence the culture that ought to exist.
I attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA for drums and vocal instruction, and later graduated with a degree in Music Business from there. Though drumming and singing may always be my first passion, my interest and passion in the business side of the music and arts industries continuously grows. My involvement in the business side of the bands I’ve been in and others included management, booking, marketing, tour-managing, promotions and publicity (and even stylist). Submersed in all things creative is my passion and purpose, and I’m constantly rediscovering my perfect niche purpose.
I’ve been playing drums for a little over 20 years now, and I’ve been singing all of my life. The songs on this profile are of artists and bands that I’ve played drums for, sang harmony with, or both.
My professional music career started just as soon as I started college. Since then, I’ve played in countless bands and for several artists of many different styles and genres. Americana, Alt-Country, Alt-Rock, Bluegrass, Blues, Christian, Country AND Western, Folk, Funk, Garage, Grunge, Hard Rock, Pop, Pop-Rock, Roots-Rock, Southern Rock, Tejano, Classic Rock and Classic Country cover bands, and Top 40 cover bands.
My past musical hometowns include Waco, TX, Jackson Hole, WY, Austin, TX, Los Angeles, CA, and New York, NY. Now I live in Nashville, TN.
“Some men must follow, and some command, though all are made of clay”
-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The Broken Pot
So broken was this pot of clay
who'd want it now -- no good
Then Jesus came along and said
"It's valuable -- I would"
So He redeemed it for a price
Then placed it on the wheel
And with His nail scarred hands began
To mold and shape and heal...
