Piedmont Project is a Swedish acoustic blues band. They play Piedmont blues, also called East Coast blues or Carolina blues, a blues style that developed in the USA east of the Appalachian mountain area in the beginning of the last century. The style is a mix of delta blues, ragtime, old time and vaudeville, seldom heard in Europe. An important “fingerpicking” acoustic guitar keeps the groove and the syncopated rhythm.
The core members are Kenneth Engström, guitar and vocals, Mac Robertson, guitar and vocals and Knut Johansson, bass and Martin Landgren, accordeon. At concerts the group often features their guest musicians Petra Kvist Fiddle and Annsofie Wieland Vocals They are well known musicians in Sweden. The group released their first official and full length album
“Pickin My Tomatoes” in 2007. The guest artists are featured, even former "Grus i Dojjan" fiddler Helge Hansson.
In the mid-1920s, a form of guitar music evolved from African-American culture that echoed the soul and personality of African-American life. The style evolved from "rags," played with banjos, fiddles and percussion. As the guitar replaced the banjo as the lead instrument and songs were picked from the strings rather than strummed, an energetic voice emerged that began to sweep through the Southeast, and it was called Carolina blues, or Piedmont blues. Piedmont blues differed from the tradition blues that lulled a sad, longing story and picked up the pace, peppy enough for people to dance to it.
The group started already 1986 as a duo when Kenneth and Mac recorded some ragtime type songs, all penned by Kenneth. Eventually they went into the actual piedmont blues style. And when bass player Knut joined the group it became a solid unit and they have since that day enjoyed great success at a vast number of festivals, pubs and clubs in Sweden. The audience had never heard this kind of happy sounding good-time-blues before. Piedmont Project became sort of messengers of the style in this part of the world.
The years went and the group played numerous gigs before they 2006 recorded their first official album “Pickin.. My Tomatoes.”
The album got astoundingly good reviews everywhere and the group was discovered by blues radio stations all over the world.

Appena sarà tutto pronto ti faremo sapere.
Dio ti benedica ancora, grazie. Suonate il blues più che potete!!!!!
