Creating "a new holiday" for Rochester, in what is to be the inaugural Lake Ontario Love Parade. Celebrating the beauty of the Charlotte Pier and the lake before winter obscures it's treasures! Taking a temporary step away from society by walking the pier in the opposite direction of the city, in the purpose of love, and recognition that we'd like to lead improved, peaceful lives. Honoring the people and things that we love. Possibly making up with our enemies by inviting them to walk with us in the parade or honoring them quietly by parading their picture with warm thoughts. Using the parade as a pre-winter cleanse of the old. Giving our city an authentic and mysterious event like the archaic parades of Bali and Italy. Celebrating brought-props and fun costuming. Paper bell Making. Creating social events in underused, magical areas.

About me: COME JOIN THE FIRST LAKE ONTARIO LOVE PARADE! SUNDAY OCT. 26th 1:11pm AT CHARLOTTE PIER!
Come walk Charlotte Pier in a parade celebrating LOVE!
We will gather together on Sunday October 26th at the magic time of 1:11pm to walk the pier in an act of societal togetherness - celebrating our love for others, our commitments to bettering ourselves, and our affection for one of the beautiful locations in our city - before the winter arrives.
The Lake Ontario Love Parade serves as an opportunity to make a stance that each of us would like to live in a more peaceful world. It is like a meditation with foot action or a vigil, where we ourselves act as the candles carrying light.
By walking to the end of the pier we are in a way walking away from the direction of "general civilization" - the cacophony that is our daily lives back on the shore.
The Love Parade gives us an outlet to put some of our thoughts into action. Each of us will have different reasons for participating, but some i would like to suggest are:
Walk to honor someone or something you love; invite a loved one to walk with you or more demurely carry their picture in the parade. I know i will be pinning the pictures of several people i secretly love on the sleeves of my winter sweater while sending them appreciative thoughts.
Walk to honor someone you would like to make up with, or were formerly enemies with - perhaps you could even invite this person to the parade in an attempt to heal the rift. If this sounds too surreal - meditating on them during the parade may just be enough to clear some of the ill feelings out of your heart and at least that provides you peace.
Walk to promote unity; that a group of people can create an unique event with intentions to improve the quality of life in their city. If the love parade is successful it would be a wonderful annual event to cleanse the mental palette for the oncoming winter and to inspire Rochesterians everywhere. It would also be nice to provide Rochester with an event that seemed as loric as a holiday, with the intruiging pomp parades have in other cultures. The Love Parade could be our pierside touch of Europe or Asia via the richness of the decorative procession.
Walk to regain your youth - and fight against those who naysay against any unsual idea. Free your mind; create props, dress in costume or dress down. Certainly dress for the weather - But indulge yourself in the dream parade you've always wanted to be part of.
Be excited that these are times of change - the Parade is happening this year before the election - and can serve as a pre-game of the excitement there is be, with a new future for our country on it's way.
Walk in commitment to yourself. Walking is healthy and being with a parade of others allows us to feel giddy!
XO dears,
Lindsay
