He manages his projects in jazz music since 1986. From his journeys in New York in the late ’90s, musicians like Mark Turner, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Seamus Blake, Melvin Butler, Chander Sardjoe, Stéphane Galland, Linlay Marthe, Mark Zubek, Philippe Thomas, Bilou Doneux, … have been part of the project « The New International Edition ». This group had the opportunity to show up on the international stage (New York, Paris, Bruxelles, Luxembourg, Ankara, …).

One of the primary objectives of the creative musician is to develop his or her own distinct sound universe that can easily be recognized. All great guitarists from Charlie Christian to Wes Montgomery, René Thomas, Jim Hall and the best guitarists of the moment have achieved this objective. Composer and guitarist Pierre Lognay is on the track since he made this first recording foe Lyrae Records. He possesses the sound and ideas that make him incomparable to both contemporaries and predecessors. Pierre Lognay's first record "Some Other Thing"(IGL082) recieived exellent revieuws and exposed the freshness of the "fusion" in the beginning of the 90's. The present production confirm the growing maturity of his compositions and arrangements. The repertoire is essentially based on odd meters and comprises a balanced mixture of rich and suprising non-conventional impressionist orcherstrations. Creative consistence at the service of a musical concept which remains accessible to all.
The Kaleidoscope atmosphere designed by this septet exites curiosity and the listener is transported to a pleasant ocean of colours, sensations and suprises. The freedom of the soloist and the magic of the musical form bring us something new today. It is in this architectural world of fragile alchemic moments of sound and silence that Pierre Lognay's know how lies. The quality of execution lies in the perfect and necessary cohesion of the musical ensemble.
This remarkable cohesion is not by chance. Since 1996, Pierre lognay has played extensively (Paris, Brusels, New York, Ankara, Luxembourg, Grenoble, ...) with top class musicians. In recent years artists like Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, Melvin Butler, Chander Sardjoe, Stéphane Galland, Luis Augusto Cavani, Théo de Jong, Linley Marthe, Eric Vermeulen, Hans Van Oosterhout, Bilou Doneus, Philippe Thomas, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Mark Zubek ... and the musicians of this recording have participated in numerous tours with the band leader. Based on the quality of his experience, Pierre Lognay decided to embark on this great adventure of recording a live album. The result is eloquent and all tracks on the CD are taken from the same concert.
By the Way, Pierre Lognay is self-taught and has directed his own bands since 1986. This experience led him to direct the multicultural project "The New International Edition". Each Musician puts forward a specific personal talent while respecting the other. This is, indeed, a welcome message of peace and hope at the beginning of this century.
