Patrick Ifonge is the founder of Forum HipHop, an information and development platform focused on HipHop culture, and publisher of Forum HipHop magazine. Entrepreneur, activist, marketing and communication specialist, editor, writer, webmaster, he is first a HipHop passionate with a broad perspective (that mixes politics, economics, social and artistic insights).
Product of the so-called golden age of HipHop and involved in that culture since the mid-80s, Patrick Ifonge made his first steps in the media area in Lille in 1993 when he created the first local HipHop journal in northern France.
Dissatisfied with the state of HipHop as an art form, social movement, cultural force and economic empowerment tool, he decided to create Forum HipHop in 2001. Forum HipHop is an information, development and collaboration platform that provides ideas, experiences and resources to make it with HipHop. Now, Forum HipHop is a print magazine, a website (www.forumhiphop.com), and an international network of HipHop activists and enthusiasts. Forum HipHop has quickly become a reference.
As a HipHop expert and writer, Patrick Ifonge’s articles, insights and analysis are often quoted and selected by journalists, professors, HipHop activists and professionals worldwide.
Change agent, Patrick Ifonge is currently working with HipHop Survivors, his own association, to develop La Voix du HipHop (The Voice of HipHop), a regional organization aimed at structuring and promoting HipHop in the Euroflandre region. He is also working on creating a HipHop multimedia and cultural centre. The centre is due to be open in 2007 in Lille Metropole.
Sought after speaker and consultant, Patrick Ifonge participates regularly in conferences, debates and workshops nationwide and in Europe, where he intervenes on different topics (mainly on HipHop culture, immigration and integration issues, African youth issues in Europe, marketing and communication, media influences, and new technologies’ social and economic impact).
