   About Pig Earth
Pig Earth is an original alternative contemporary Americana/Folk band formed around the songwriting of Neil Keveren and Emma Steele. The vivacious songs often have a strong narrative in the tradition of folk but the band’s approach is far from traditional. Pig Earth knock out positive uplifting stompers and rolling, rambling tales of love, travel, roots and home. These are songs that all can relate to and revel in. A joyous gig to drink and be merry to. “Come and join us, it doesn’t get fresher than this”. ................................................................................................ Things are pretty much going to plan. We continue to write, record and perform. There are very few gigs where a brand new song is not slipped in to the set. Often before they have had any kind of band arrangements we just let piano and guitar simply accompany the vocal melody. The audience appear to relish the excitement of being the first to experience songs never before heard. At later gigs, once we have got our strings and percussion sorted they again thrill at the progress. We feel if a song works in its simplest form then it should pass the test of time and become a favourite. We have put up a couple of our latest tracks here on MySpace, “Big American Cars” and “Smoke and Mirrors”. They are in an early form, however we hope you like them so far. We record as we perform, just set up and do it, all at once, with the exception of the vocal that for separation purposes we put on after. The listener pretty much gets our live sound but with a little more control over the levels etc. We can’t imagine that we would produce a "layered-up" sound that we cannot reproduce live on stage. We have been working in Keynote Studios in Reading and we feel very much at home there. Pig Earth consider all of our recordings are demos at this stage. They are serving the purpose of getting the band some quality gigs and we are lined-up in for some great festivals next year already. We can’t wait to get on fantastic stages with some brilliant bands and share our music with you all. As we live with our ever-growing set of songs, all penned over the past year or so, we continue to grow as a band of musicians together. It is our intention before too long to re-record the entire repertoire within a short period of time. From these we will then select a number of them for our début album. We have been linking up with and supporting some great bands, the Coal Porters, 3 Daft Monkeys and the Junkyard Dogs to name but a few. Keep an eye on our gig listing, become a MySpace Friend or join our mailing list to get news directly and enjoy two bands for the price of one. We are loving playing together as Pig Earth and hope you will feel that when you see us perform live. Thanks for your support. Pig Earth. ......................................................................................................... ............................... "THIS IS A SONG ABOUT A TRAIN" "FAR FROM THE VILLAGE" "HERE WITH YOU" "WHISKEY IN THE JAR" "DANCING IN THE GARDEN" "EVERYTHING"
